you said that non-playoff teams will not throw the max at players, that's demonstrably false, every single year. Players worse than Capela have gotten max or close to max salaries from tons of non-playoff teams every single year.

and you named a bunch of situations that were playoffs teams at the time. so yeah it had nothing to do with what i posted. and for the record i didn't say that.

And how do you know they won't draft a can't miss prospect?

And btw if they draft a top 10 talent they'll play him and do the best they can, nothing more nothing less, what does it mean "no team is going to wait years for a pick to pan out"? That's exactly what a rebuilding process is, draft players and wait until they become a good team to build around them...lol, Phoenix is waiting for like what, 6 years?

Mavs offering Noel $17.5m per year last offseason was a playoff situation?

is that max? nope. thats why noel is an idiot for not accepting it bc he wont get anywhere close to that now.

Phoenix did not wait for Alex Len, that's why they offered the Max to Tyson Chandler.

Ask a Mavs fan whether they want Noel for $17.5m or Capela for the Max, go ask other fanbases, Capela for the max is not controversial, a quick poll of other fanbases will tell you that this is pretty much a done deal.

But you have to consider the enviroment.

Dallas offered those contract while they were not rebuilding, now it seems like they're forced to do it so who knows, maybe they'll still offer big money to a center, maybe Capela, maybe others, Capela is not the only one available. But maybe they will instead draft one.

Brooklyn offer that contract to Crabbe cause they had literally zero wings, now they have at least two centers, one unmovable contract like Mozgov and one good prospect similar to Capela so, yeah, they can still offer Capela big money, but they have reason to not do that.

They didn't wait for Len because they were trying to compete, they had Bledsoe, Tucker and they tried to sign Aldridge. Len also sucked from day one so, there was nothing to wait for i guess. And yeah, they didn't offer a max to Chandler.

who gives a **** if Noel didn't accept it, the Mavs offered it, that's the way they think, you think they won't offer Capela the max if they were willing to give Noel 17.5?

Every single prospect sucks from day 1, except can't miss prospects like Simmons, etc... Even prospects that don't suck from day 1 like Mudiay, Tyreke, don't pan out well either. Every single front office is trying to compete, GMs get fired all the time, they don't have a 4 year tank schedule to wait for prospects to develop. All owners want to get in the playoffs. Nobody except Hinkie's Sixers had a championship or bust mentality. Capela is going to get the max.

This comment speaks for itself, no need to reply to someone who thinks Capela and Noel are equally good at basketball.

once again youre assuming. someones being a bit dramatic. its ok if you dont understand how the cap works these days. ask questions instead of trying to sound smart and believe 100% whats going to happen

"Every single prospect sucks from day 1 execpt can't miss prospects"...like one those team can eventually draft you mean? What we know is that they will draft in top 10 so, yeah...if there're a couple of centers with top 10 talent, there's a good chance they will draft them instead of throwing a max to Capela which is a good player etc, but he's not a star who will eventually turn those teams into contenders.

And btw, just to clarify my idea, i'm not saying Capela will not get a max offer, i actually said in another thread (it was a Noel or Okafor thread i think) weeks ago that i wouldn't necessarily compare Noel not getting a max with Capela since Noel is certainly not considered a smart and hard worker guy like Clint (this is probably something that didn't exactly help Noel in getting more money, teams know he's an idiot and a potentially bad presence in the lokceroom), just saying that it's not as easy as you're saying, you have to consider cap space, direction a team is going, players on the roster...
