I know it's early, but with reports already out there that the Rockets are searching for help I figured this would be a worthwhile list. First, let's discuss what the Rockets have to trade: Not tradeable Eric Gordon- Not Eligible to be traded due to signing an extension this year. Tradeable, but key players Clint Capela- $14.5 M in salary PJ Tucker - $8.5 M in salary Danuel House - $3.5 M in salary Tradeable Nene Hilario - $2.6 M in salary Ryan Anderson - $2.6 M in salary Tyson Chandler - $2.6 M Thabo Sefolosha - $2.6 M Ben mcLemore $2 M Gary Clark $1.4 M Isaiah hartenstein $1.4 M The goal is to add players, not remove from your rotation for the purpose of THIS thread. So to do that, I'm targeting players that are affordable ONLY by aggregating non rotation dead salaries and combining with a pick. Examples: Nene + Ryno + Clark + Hartenstein is about $8 M which means you could bring back about $10 million in salary. I think that's a realistic cap. Maybe $10 million in salary could be acquired if we send picks out with those players. Obviously you aren't going to get a great player because someone would offer more, so we are hunting for useful players making up to $10M on a team that would be willing to move them for mediocre returns. Important: We will only hunt for players who fit as a long wing or a big since that is what it would appear we are targeting. There are guards available for sure, but if they can't play 3/4 or 5 in our system doesn't seem useful really. The Suspects If they fall out of it... From Brooklyn: Joe Harris - Good shooter, not a defender $7.7 M Garrett Temple - solid all around, not great at anything, would be helpful for sure though. $4.8 M From Detroit: Langston Galloway $7.3 M From Golden State: Kevin Looney: $4.47 M From Indiana: TJ Warren: $10.81 M Jeremy Lamb: $10.5 M From Memphis: Kyle Anderson: $9.1 M Jae Crowder: $7.8 M From Knicks: Taj Gibson: $9M From Orlando: Al-Farouq Aminu: $9.3 M From Suns: Aron Baynes: $5.5 M From Kings: Richaun Holmes: $4.8 M From Wizards: Thomas Bryant: $8 M Davis Bertans: $7 M
Of those the only players I see who I think are obtainable right now are Jae Crowder, Taj Gibson and Davis Bertans. The rest of those guys are key guys for those teams and most are just recently signed. The problem too being most of these teams are in the East and no matter how much they suck they could still make the playoffs. A team like the Magic, for example, isn't likely to trade away Al Farouq-Amino when they're trying to make the playoffs and they just stole him away from the Blazers to do just that. Aron Baynes is looking great in Phoenix and they're so delusional they think they can make the playoffs. I do think that as reality hits and they realize they are in yet another rebuilding year that could be revisited. Same with the Kings and Holmes. Really, we just need a lot of these teams to start losing a lot to be more open to buying out/trading guys.
I noticed though that he was smart enough not to include Hartenstein in any of his hypothetical trades. He knows Hartenstein is untouchable.
If they decide they're rebuilding and we can get them to include Looney then I could see that making a little more sense. Right now Capela is our only true center on the team because D'ANTONI IS SO DUMB HE WILL NEVER UNLEASH FUTURE HALL OF FAMER HARTENSTEIN!
I think we can write off Bertans, wed have to give up a lot to give him. He's one of the best shooters in the league.
exactly. although he did use the iHart in his calculations . . . "Examples: Nene + Ryno + Clark + Hartenstein is about $8 M which means you could bring back about $10 million in salary." so we're not out of the woods yet Toto
Funny how almost all of their contracts fit into our mle. Now we have to trade for someone at that level
1. bring in Russ's buddy K.Love and we'll be scoring 200 points in regulation. 2. bring in Russ's buddy S.Adam. he's got a bigger D than capela.
You can find more value from a dumpster outside of a bar in Richmond than below list. Tradeable Nene Hilario - $2.6 M in salary Ryan Anderson - $2.6 M in salary Tyson Chandler - $2.6 M Thabo Sefolosha - $2.6 M Ben mcLemore $2 M Gary Clark $1.4 M Isaiah hartenstein $1.4 M
Package Nene, Clark or Hartenstein, Ryno and a second round pick for Jae Crowder in Memphis. He can help the Rockets at the three and the four.
