It's impossible to predict things but the Cardinals have an outstanding 1-2 punch in their starting rotation. Even their 3rd option is strong. If Carpenter and Wainwright pitch like they have pretty much all season long, the offensive struggles down the stretch of the regular season will be quickly forgotten. Basically, the Cardinals have the best 1-2 of all the remaining teams and the best hitter in the universe with Holliday making him even more dangerous now. The NL is their's to lose. In the AL, I think CC and whoever else will be good enough to allow their bats to carry them to the pennant. Cardinals vs Yankees in the WS. If the Yankees pitching is good, they could win in convincing fashion. If their pitching struggles, it opens up a window for the Cardinals to make it a series. Beyond those two teams, I'd say the Dodgers and Red Sox are the next most likely to win their respective leagues.

ALDS Yanks 3-1...Twins squeak one out in Minnesota but the Yanks close the building in Game 4. Angels 3-2...Revenge here and just not that impressed with Boston, Angels have offense, pitching, speed and D. NLDS Cards 3-2...When you can throw Wainwright, Capenter and Pinero its going to be a long series for the Dodgers plus Billingsley and Kershaw are banged up. Phillies 3-1...Rockies got some decent pitching but Phillies just have to much with Lee, Hamels and Happ pitching well. ALCS Angels 4-2...Should be a great series, really should be decided in game 5. Angels get just enough clutch hitting to break through. NLCS Cards 4-3..2 of the last 3 WS Champs should make for a another great series with all kinds pitching but Pujols and Carpenter should be the difference. World Series 2009 Cards 4-3...Great WS but the back end of the bullpen probably haunts the Angels a bit more then the Cards. Great pitching with superstars all around, just what Baseball should be about.

I think that trade already looks pretty close to brilliant. The Cardinals went on a tear and pulled away from the rest of the division shortly after he came over. But, I see your point. If he is a big factor in them winning the whole thing, it will look even better. Speaking of brilliant, Cliff Lee is looking just that right now.
