first, this team lacks of fundamental defense skills. ariza is good at a couple of steals or a couple of blocks. those are good on stat sheet but he doesn't have sounded and fundamental skills what shane has. kevin martin has the same issue. they should be trained by jvg in a summer camp if there were one. ouch, i forgot ab.

second, ariza is not good at ball handling. why does our coach team not see it. he is neither kobe nor tmac but he is consistently handling the ball whenever he is on the court. he is good at making wide open shots or occasionally splashing to the basket. no one probably here remember i was the only one on this board to advocate of not signing him during the last summer. my reasons are he is a good and solid role player but spending 6 mil on him tied up our hands to this summer. it's not very difficult to find a player of his type with 6 mil. why just wait until this summer? if by the time we can't get a mega player, we have no problem to find a player of his type with tons of cap space.

third, this coach team needs to add one defense minded specialist. our defense is fading. don't expect yao by himself to cure the issue. yao is slow. it's tough to ask him to cover a lot space. the more hopes you put on yao to cure the defense, the more disappointment you will have next year. listen to me, if our players don't stay in front of his counterpart and play fundamental defense, you will see yao sits on bench more than he plays on the court in most games.

I appreciate that Martin and Ariza are thinking of the team's long-term benefit. Houston does not need Martin or Ariza to injure themselves playing out the season.

DWill is one of the worst defensive players in the league.

One of the worst? Not really, that is a large overstatement, especially since when he does focus on defense he does a more than good job of it.

I love coming on the GARM after a loss like this just to see all the OVEReactions...chill out guys.Im the most die-hard Rocket fan and even I know that these lossess are basically teaching our young team different things. As I even said from the beginning this is a DEVELOPMENT season. You think Ariza is gonna get the green light next season? You think Kevin Martin is gonna be so passive next season? You think Brooks is gonna feel the need to put the team on his back next season(Even tho its been proven that this is not such a bad thing anymore, the kid can ball)?

However Yao or not defense needs to be worked on this Summer

GG for Hill, suddenly losing Landry aint looking that bad...I kid,I kid

Ariza will be big for us next season,in the role he was brought in for:Defense and the 5th option....yall are acting like he has a choice not to take the shot...but damn,he needs to work on his dribbling

Chill out Rockets fans(Or so called fans)

Yao will cure all these things

It's all Kevin Martins fault! Why did he have to come back!!!
    I'm just playing.
Everyone needs to calm down! Just wait this season out man, next year we'll be back. I believe Ariza could expand his game during the off-season if he works hard at it. Patience is the key to this season guys.

Don't be delusional, one of the worst aspects of our defense this year is fast break defense, and Yao will not help that. Also our help defense to perimeter defense has slid majorly with so many personnel changes from the JVG era.

So how bout them Pacers!

BTW....Ariza had me throwing fits like Artest did last season....

STOP being Steve Francis with the damn ball and then taking ill advised shots! ....bonehead.

Well with Yao comes winning, and with winning comes the will to do stuff you wouldnt normally do..I can vouch for this because I play basketball(Not on the NBA level, yet  )..while I think Yao will probably foul out more than he ever has next year, our interior defense will improve....but its all on this current group to stop guys like DUNLEAVY and MURPHY from lifting up and hitting 3s like they did...WTF

this Summer they need to run defense drills like there is no tomorrow

Clutch should just title post-game analysis threads like these, "Knee Jerk Freak Out Reaction to a Big Loss... Post Here" and the analysis after a big win, "Knee Jerk Euphoria After a Big Win... Post Here." Honest to god, people, do half of you even remember what you posted after the Boston win, or the many, many other wins like that one, or what you posted after the many, many loses? Some of you look like freakin' idiots.

What an ugly game! The Rockets really need help ... there is no way they are a contender even with a healthy Yao.

This game means absolutely nothing in grand scheme of things. The Rockets could've won this game by 30 and it still wouldn't change the fact that they're not making the playoffs.

No, but it does highlight their shortcomings from all season and is the perfect summation of the things they need to improve on (much like the Jazz game earlier in the season and many other blowouts).

True, except that it gives their competition (Utah in this case) a chance for a better draft pick from the Knicks. They should have lost to Boston and beat the Pacers.
