I'm leaning more toward no as well. Although, Morey is a cap master. He can find ways to make any deal work.
Just don't see him spending $17 mil in cap on decent role players in the next 48 hours. Especially free agents he hasn't really contacted outside of Deng.
If we don't match, how much money will we have to play with? We only get like $2 or $3 million in room by not matching Parsons, right?
Pick your poison 1.We don't match Parsons, our roster gets worse. We will have more flexibility but I'm definitely seeing a first round exit this year...IF we make the playoffs. 2.We sign who we can and match , we lock up our roster for the next 3 years potentially, a roster that probably will not make it past the 2nd round, or even the first.
If we do match we lose almost all our cap room. Salvage the situation, go after Deng, fill out the rest of the team with decent role players. Nothing else we can do at this point.
I may be wrong, but I believe the Rockets technically have Harden Howard Beverley Canaan Covington ungaranteed contract Daniels qualifying offer $1mil cap hold Parsons qualifying offer $2.8mil cap hold $8.3mil trade exception cap hold(Asik) $8.3mil trade exception cap hold(Lin) $5.5mil MLE cap hold Which is over the cap. Even if they keep Parsons, they can still operate over the cap by trading for players $8mil or less, and then still be able to use their MLE.
When is the last time you see cap room net you a triple double? Look who is available on the market. With that cap room who could we pick up? I'm on your side, I just have no logic to back it up.
Of course yes. There are no other free agents to use his money on. The REAL question is what are you doing before you match.
