As long as you're talking about complete friggin' fantasies, here's a nightmare for you. If the Rockets had made ONLY terrible decisions since the 2000 draft, here's what we could be watching today:

    Starting 5:

    PG Cuttino Mobley
    SG Glen Rice
    SF Kenny Thomas
    PF Maurice Taylor
    C Kelvin Cato

    The rest:

    Moochie Norris
    Joel Pryzbilla (2000 draft)
    Steven Hunter (2001 draft)
    Jeryl Sasser (2001 draft)
    Qyntel Woods (2002 draft)

    IL: Michael Dickerson

Yao or Amare.. Yao or Amare.. Yao or Amare.. the most controversial issue in modern rockets history.

This kind of speculation is useless. An single change in the past results in the change of everything afterwards.

Yao or Amare after the fact is one thing. Amare wasn't considered that high of a talent coming into the draft and that's what landed him so low in the draft. They saw potential but then again doesn't every GM in the league.

You think under JVG Amare would do good? in fact would anyone do good?

JVG wouldn't even play under his own system.

Just about every team could have gotten Amare (thru trade?), RJ, Rashard, etc. No GM IS perfect.

It's not like Portland in 1984 losing the coin flip for Hakeem, or Len Bias o.d.'ing. THOSE are quirks (or tragedies) of fate and true "what if?" scenarios.

Let's say for one really stupid second that this was the team that the Rockets drafted. How exactly were you going to pay all of those guys max contracts?

I am so disappointed in myself for posting in this thread.

This crap about we could have had him and man how did we not get him is BS. TONS of other teams passed up on these players thats how it goes. Our drafting has been rotten but you cannot look at how the ROCKETS missed on Boozer. He was a second round pick meaning every team missed him.

As what we Chinese said, if everyone'd known about what's going to happen in the future, beggar would have disappeared.

The truth is that even if we drafted all those players, they might turn out to be mediocre players under Houston system.

Look at how many players shined after they left Houston!

The starter of this thread needs to write a "what if" book that he can promote on all the sports radio talk shows.

What if Jordan had been drafted #1 instead of Hakeem?
What if the Magic hadn't traded Ben Wallace to the Pistons?
What if Dirk wasn't traded for Robert Traylor in a draft day deal?
What if the Rockets hadn't traded for Barkley?

There's a lot more, but this is like crying over spilled milk.

You forgot, what if Houston lost a coin flip and drafted SAM BOWIE in 1984.

    I shudder at the might-have-beens.

You forgot... what if Houston lost a coin flip and drafted Sam Bowie in 1984 and what if the Sam Bowie who we drafted actually developed into a super center and became even more dominant than Shaq ever was?

Some many things, so little time.....here goes

    1. Being a software developer does not automatically make a you intelligent, just smart( there is a difference ). :p

    2. Making money does not make you better than anyone else, just more fortunate. :p

    3. The thread is redundant..period. So expect some ribbing when you post it. :p
