Doubt Les cares. It's strictly a business decision. Not only is Les trying to escape the incoming luxury tax bills, he knows that Chinese are spending crazy $$ and now is the time to cash out. The Chinese can massively outbid their competitors and Les knows it. I wouldn't be surprised if he already has some Chinese investors lined up because of Rockets and his relationship with Chinese markets. This press conference might as well have been in Mandarin that says, "For Sale. Come get it!"
i dont think he could afford it because isn't he not the sole owner of Astros? Think he has lots of minority owners
I think Crane was actually one of the poorest guys to buy a franchise wasn't he? Weren't there all kinds of financial issues in that transaction because he was cash poor? Won't shock me to see a Chinese owner with Yao as a front man for the purchase in some way.
To be fair I there really aren't to many people that can afford a NBA team on their own and would actually have interest... the chances of one person buying the team is slim to none
this. I know his ownership group sued Drayton because they bought the team at a valuation with tv deal in mind, which never happened.
Best case scenario: Ownership group that included Beyonce and Chinese Investors. Beyonce uses celebrity to attract players, Chinese spend like crazy to keep the team good and prove they belong in the league.
My pick would be whoever is best to improve these gawd awful Chinese inspired jerseys. ..... and then the team.
Here's a question: How does a Chinese owner, likely a basketball fan from China, feel about Carmelo Anthony?
just thinking about potential owners makes me feel so lucky to have Les where's the appreciation thread at
That would be bad ass if a group like Yao, Beyonce, and any other Houston folks bought the team. I am afraid a new owner would try and move the team in the future. Though I might be okay with a demand for a new stadium because, a) I hate Toyota Center, and 2) I don't live in Houston, so it won't increase my taxes!
