    Also:

    1. American Hustle is pretty average.

    2. Remo Williams (The Adventure Begins) is awesome.

What kind of monster doesn't like Starship Troopers?

Put me down in the Tarantino hate camp. He has a definite style, but all of his characters sound like him and he's way too indulgent with his "dialogue." I also feel like he tries way too hard and I can't watch any of his movies without picturing him ear-deep in coke and stroking it to foot fetish p*rn.

God help me, but I laugh every time I see Master of Disguise.

I am there with you. I even walked out of his "masterpiece" Pulp Fiction.

A movie I liked that most people disliked was Mosquito Coast. Or it seemed at the time that most people disliked it. Not sure what people think now.

You still gotta respect that he walked away from probably another $20 million in compensation and back-end to do stuff like this because he knew Schumacher would ruin Batman.

I got some gas near home once, and when I went inside I saw that they were selling VHS movies. So I got Lord of the Rings just to see what all the hype was about. I think a few minutes in a couple of wizards were having some telekinetic fight where they would stick their hand out and make the other one fall back.

I literally stopped the VCR, pulled out the cassette, opened it up, ripped the tape apart and threw in the garbage to make sure I didn't watch it again. I don't think I've liked a medieval fantasy movie since Ms. O'Dell played Legend in 5th grade music class.

Clockwork is one of my favorite movies of all time. How can someone named Buck Turgidson diss A Clockwork Orange?!

I love Dr. Strangelove. It is probably my favorite film. Kubrick is definitely my favorite director of all time. The guy has made some of my favorite films: Clockwork, Strangelove, 2001, Paths of Glory, Full Metal.

I also have to say that I like Will Smith movies, for the most part. He's had a few clunkers, for sure, but I am normally pretty satisfied with his movies.

Absolutely abhorred Forrest Gump. Never understood how people could enjoy such contrived sentimentality. Way too clichéd and predictably nonsensical. Probably didn't help that I was forced to watch it (by crazy ex) during my arthouse/noir phase in my early twenties. (yeah, I was likely a douche then)

Movies I probably have no business loving but always will:

    Fletch (it's all ball bearings)
    Red Dawn (wolverine!!!)
Back to School (oingo boingo & triple lindy)
Weird Science (c'mon, kelly lebrock )
Real Genius (will always remember val kilmer in this role)
Flight of the Navigator (just because the ufo was badass)
Cloak & Dagger (spy kid on the riverwalk!)
No Way Out (yuri trapped in the pentagon)
Running Scared (crystal & hines, ultimate buddy cop movie)
Terminator (schwartzeneggar in his prime, at his best)
    Delta Force (chuck ******g norris)
The Beastmaster (smart ferrets and dungeon gimps)
Clash of the Titans (medusa & stop-motion animation)
Dragonslayer (one amulet to rule them all -- LOTR can't touch it)
Starman (the dude as a super chill extraterrestial)
Firefox (clint eastwood steals the baddest fighter jet ever!!!)
    and of course
Career Opportunities (jennifer connelly my gawd )

    wait a minute... can't forget

    "10" (Bo Derek + bolero + grass = :eek::eek::eek:)

I agree with you on Pulp Fiction. Slumdog Millionaire, I also thought was overrated.

You are actually not supposed to feel sorry for him. That has nothing to do with the movie at all.

One way you could look at the movie is that Charlotte is like your younger self and Bob is who you are now and the hotel experience was like those fleeting moments in your life that you will never get back but that you wish would last forever.

When Bob sleeps with that older woman, it jars you back into reality.

One reason Sophia Coppola set this movie in a dream setting was to get you the illusion of that this is a suspended movie in time (not real life).

Also, in a sense, Bob is giving charlotte a direction in life, while charlotte is bringing out the kid in Bob again. It's almost too perfect hence when Bob falls for older woman, it sucks for everybody who wants this to last.

There is a lot more going on in this film than you think. Watch this movie in another 10 years and I bet you will find more appreciation for it.

Missing in Action series (can't leave Chuck out)

    Cobra/Tango & Cash/Lock Up/The Specialist (yeah, I'm a Stallone fan)
    Arachnaphobia
Prison Break/Oz (not movies, but figured I'd mention them)
Memento (may be wrong here, it may be well liked, I just didn't see it mentioned)
    A Perfect World
    The War
    Into the Wild
    The Deer Hunter
    Surviving the Game
    Shutter Island
    Dog Day Afternoon

    Movies most like, I don't:

Star Wars (tried, but could never get into it)
Fast & Furious (first was ok, couldn't watch anything after the 2nd and 3rd)
    Pulp Fiction
    Lord of the Rings
    Harry Potter
    Goodfellas
    Matrix series
Christmas Sory (good movie, but it's been drilled into my head every Christmas all these years, it's driven me crazy!
    Saving Private Ryan
Raiders of the Lost Ark (honestly, I liked this movie, just not nearly as much as everyone else, never got the hype)
    Back to the Future
    Reservoir Dogs
    Full Metal Jacket
    Good Will Hunting
    The Fifth Element
    The Truman Show

I LOVE a good 80's movie, but I never got the love for The Goonies. I've tried watching it several times, but the kids are all so obnoxious that I can't take it. They just never shut up. Just yelling the entire movie.

Also, A Clockwork Orange was a good mention. Just never understood the love for that movie. I can't even get through it and I'm a huge Kubrick fan (The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, 2001).

A great movie hardly anyone has ever heard of is White Water Summer with Kevin Bacon and Sean Astin. Oddly enough, I think it's one of Bacon's best performances.

I am pretty sure those movies I bolded are well liked and well regarded. They are over an 8 on IMDB but I don't know how they were initially received. I also loved The Village I just think people were expecting some crazy monster movie.

A Clockwork Orange is a triumph in film-making. Kubrick took a novel that was considered un-adaptable and turned it into something memorable. That being said, I have no desire to ever watch it again.

The people who hate Starship Troopers are the ones who didn't understand that it was a satire on propaganda and groupthink. That movie went over the heads of a staggering amount of people.

For me, anything Stanley Kubrick is an automatic pass. I just can't muster up the emotional energy to sit through his mind games.

As far as something I love that most people don't, I don't really know.....probably some crappy horror movie that I found entertaining. Chernobyl Diaries?

Count me in that group. I was probably about 13 when I saw it and I thought it was terrible. I didn't know it was a satire until very recently. I just always thought it was a really, really bad adaptation of a Heinlein novel.

And now that I think about it, I never really liked any Paul Verhoeven movie.
