Greg Pops wants Tony Parker to shoot less

Here is the article from San Antonio Express news

Popovich Asks Parker To Shoot Less
    23rd January, 2007 - 5:35 am
    San Antonio Express-News -
Tony Parker, who was averaging a team-high 14.9 shots per game entering Monday, said Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has asked him to focus more on distributing the ball and helping his teammates get in rhythm.

"He wants me to try to do a better job of getting everybody involved and try to take less shots," Parker said. "I try to get more shots for Michael Finley and Brent Barry and to get their confidence going."

After averaging about 19 points a game for much of the season, Parker said he's had to change his natural instincts a bit.

"I'm trying to do my best to help my team out and get something going," he said. "My offense will always come back. I just try to be more as a passer these last two games and get everybody involved

Pop wouldn't just say it, he'd scream it loud enough for everyone in the arena to hear.

"Rafer, I think you could help the team a lot more by playing less."

If he had V-Span, he wouldn't be turning V-Span into a spotup shooter. It would be more penetration.

Bingo! He would have the player play to his strengths not like JVG who wants to change the world according to his views.

Yeah, Pop would NEVER ask a player to change his natural game or anything. I mean, he'd never ask Tony Parker to change the way he naturally plays to help the team or anything...

At least he is willing to ask.

JVG - please ask Rafer to follow Tony Parker's lead on the less shooting thing.

During practice, he would run on the court and block Alston's shot attempts, ala Bill Murray on the kids playground in Rushmore.
