I thought you were teaching us and wanted us to post what was wrong with them. [IMG]

I couldn't find anything wrong with your other examples.

Technically "Rockets forum" is correct. The Rockets don't own the forum. It is a forum for the Rockets. It's even more appropriate as the name of the forum is "Rockets 2001: Game Action and Roster Moves". Saying "Rockets" forum can be construed as an abbreviation of the full name.

Mr. fadeaway just admitted his "mistake" for no reason. [IMG]

In my experiences, I've found that foreigners who apologize for their 'poor English' often have better grammar/spelling than the average American.

Can't believe nobody else has mentioned this...

EDDIE GRIFFIN'S LAST NAME. I've seen it spelled Griffen (as often as not) and Griffon quite a few times.

He's on our team now, people! Let's get it right [IMG].

    Well, <A HREF="http://www.dictionary.com/cgi-bin/dict.pl?term=Griffon">'Griffon'</A> is understandable.

There is no excuse for 'Griffen,' however.

    Alright/ All right

    USAGE NOTE:

All right, usually pronounced as if it were a single word, probably should have followed the same orthographic development as already and altogether. But despite its use by a number of reputable authors, the spelling alright has never been accepted as a standard variant, and the writer who chooses to risk that spelling had best be confident that readers will acknowledge it as a token of willful unconventionality rather than a mark of ignorance.

-- The American Heritage Dictionary of The English Language

For those who are Interested, The Elements of Style by William Strunk, Jr. and E. B. White is an outstanding rules manual. Here is a famous except from the book:

Vigorous writing is concise. A sentence should contain no unnecessary words, a paragraph no unnecessary sentences, for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines and a machine no unnecessary parts. This requires not that the writer make all his sentences short, or that he avoid all detail and treat his subject only in outline, but that every word tell.

If you look at the way the English language has changed over the last few centuries, I wouldn't be surprised if one day, simple spellings completely took over.

    For exampel,

Ther wil bee no doubel leters, and the leter "s" wil bee uzed for awl hard "s" sounds. Cinema, wil becum sinema. Ther wil bee no "kn", so "knife" wil bee speled "nife". The leter "e" wil go at the end of words only to distinguish beetween words like lik (lick), or like. Language wil bee simplified grately in the futeur.

I still can't spell Wally Szerbiack's name correctly. . . I've been spelling it Tszerbiak lately, but I know it's not right. I don't know if I've ever spelled it correctly.
