Tmac had a time when he let Mike James, Sura, Wesley control the ball.

That is when he played more SF than guard.

Rafer Alston always looked to dump the ball.

mods need to make a melo forum so we can talk about him there, instead of clogging the garm with the usual sergio llull/ryan anderson bullshit

Yea sounds good. GARM, NBA and Melo

And I give it an 8* excited but idk how the big three will work out. I just want it to be over and for us to get melo already. Would be nice to add JaMychal Green and some other big or an athletic Forward. We need someone else besides Capela to get all those lobs.

Yes, but what could T-Mac do off the ball?

That's why I didn't say it's about whether Melo gives it up or not. To me it's about whether a player like Melo can even be worth their minutes/salary when they don't have the ball. Carmelo and Paul are elite at catch n shoot. T-Mac and Harden are not (just an example).

The first step is getting a guy to agree to reduce his iso's and become a recipient of the offense. The next step, which usually determines whether they'll continue buying into it, is whether that person can actually do DAMAGE without the ball. Melo can do serious damage, and that is very important because you need to keep feeding his ego for him to continue buying into it. The final step is to not forget that in the right circumstances, and when you don't have better options, a Carmelo Anthony iso is a GREAT last option.

Off the ball he was mostly a slasher pre surgery and when he did not have back spasms.

Also good second passer in transition and when the ball stops.

Lol just imagine McGrady with Harden and Chris Paul.

I agree Melo is the better spot up 3pt shooter. McGrady likely has to improve on that or shoot long 2s.

He makes us better. We will always have an elite scorer and most of the time we will have 2 of them.

Defense will be our achilles heel. I think Melo helps a little bit with this though in a way, because I think James is fully capable of playing solid D when he isn't going all-out on offense 40 minutes per night. So, maybe we will actually be able to cover up for some of our frontcourt deficiencies with good overall wing D.

I don't think your poll is very complete. Whether Melo will improve the starting line up shouldn't be in debate, yes he is an upgrade. The problem is if he lives up to his salary and what he will ask for next year. Melo will ask for a superstar price when he is a star at best talent. If you ask me if Melo is going to be worth 30+ million I would say clearly no.

Harden getting the most lucrative contract in NBA + Paul most likely going to go for the big $$$ too and then Melo jumping on board with the $$$ train its going to leave us no room to work with. Thankfully Curry asked for max, Durant did not however. Dreymond is at a super value and Klay is too but he will most likely resign higher.

What makes the Warriors so dominate isn't just they have the personnel to do so but that personnel was only made possible by people completely out valuing their contracts. For the Rockets this will not be the case.

Before we were getting him he was chucking loser. After we get him he is just a misunderstood superstar.

He took a team to the WCF. I think he was the only guy to win a playoff series in NY in 17 years. He won national championship.

    3.

Adding a big name doesn't automatically make you a better team. Especially if it's a player like Carmelo. I hope it's not 2012-13 Lakers all over again. But it very well might be.

Depends on what we'll give up.

    If it's Gordon + Ariza i'd say 3.

    If it's Ryan + 1st + 2nd/s + young players i'd say 5.

    If it's Ryan + salary fillers (NG dudes) + a 2nd and/or just one young player i'd say 7.

and if Lebron comes here next summer because of this i'd say 10 :D
