Cruz is a reptilian sociopath, so no Cruz would not be an improvement over Trump.

If I had to choose between Cruz and Trump I'd go with Cruz. Of course, I'd vote for karl malone or Hillary Clinton before I'd vote for Trump, so that should tell you something.

Of course I don't support Cruz or Trump....that goes without saying. Just trying to honor the spirit of the thread. Choosing not to answer is a cop out. SAD!

Give me Cruz over Trump any day of the week. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a Cruz vs. Bernie election. The ultimate conservative vs. the ultimate socialist.

Im certainly not a Republicans by any stretch but I do want to stress that I appreciate the roll of Conservatives as a counter balance to Democrats in our Government. I can appreciate the concept of giving more power back to the states, operating more fiscally conservative, and helping create as much competition as we can in differing markets. Tax breaks for the wealthy, corporations, trickle down theory, and obliteration of social programs I don't agree with though. But I think a balance of both are good for our country to have balance.

With that being said, Ted Cruz is a complete jackass, and Trump is a monster. However they are much much different in their terribleness, but neither are what I would consider Conservative Republicans. If I have to choose between the two, I choose Cruz because I know as terrible as he is, the world wont end.

My choice if I was a Republican would have been to push for Kasich to be the nominee. I think he has great temperament, great experience, is moderate enough to win over Democrats, and showed in the campaign that decency matters when it comes to his brand of politics. I don't agree with him on many issues, but he seems like someone who can respectfully disagree with Democrats and would ultimately put Country above party.

Cruz will do most of the things Trump will do, but he won't be wasting money and build the stupid wall or piss of other world leaders by hanging up on them. Cruz won't be using twitter to spit out outright false statements every week either. He will at least be acting more presidential.

Kasich strikes me as a fine, decent fellow with the country's best interests at heart. Sure, I disagree with the man on a lot of issues, but I think he would be a vastly better President than Mr. Trump or Senator (I know what's best for a woman's body 'cause I was a woman in a previous life! Really!!) Pence.

Would you rather have a narcissistic buffoon that won't give the Freedom Caucus what they want in the White House or a narcissistic lawyer that would.

We've seen how Republican congressman have lined up behind Trump despite personal animosities and Trump's philosophical deviations. If they can throw their free trade allegiance in the trash for Trump, I don't see why they can't compromise themselves for Cruz too. The only thing that has really given any of them any pause over Trump was their fear that he'd self-destruct and take them down with him. And they've mostly thrown in with him anyway, even knowing it might be political suicide. Cruz wouldn't be in any particular risk of imploding, so I expect they'd wholeheartedly embrace him if he was president.

At this point, even a used tampon would win in a poll vs Trump.

But he is still the president for the next four years, sad isn't it.

You may be right but GOP senators detest Cruz so much I think they would delight in holding his agenda hostage. The fact many of them aren't total right wing kooks would make it very difficult for Cruz to demolish the federal government

Keep in mind Dems remember the last 8 years and probably won't do Republicans any favors when it comes to passing legislation. Payback.

    +1.

As an aside, I don't think that Cruz would've won if he got the GOP nomination anyway. I think Trump only won because he was viewed as a complete outsider, his selling of the "drain the swamp" narrative (which, of course, hasn't happened at all). But between Cruz & Hillary, I think the more moderate of the two wins in the general, and Cruz is more conservative than Clinton is liberal. Plus, even the most inept political operative could hang Cruz with his own "birther" rope.
