I would've voted no in this poll if I saw it before he had played 2 games for us already. Even now, after these 2 games, I probably would vote no, but with a lot of hesitation. I understand this is a low risk signing, but I'm still skeptical that Rivers can play this within himself consistently. My fear is that he plays like this for awhile, gets comfortable with his teammates and system, and then reverts back to his hero-ball-leading-to-bonehead-plays way, especially if it happens during the playoffs. I fear that eventually, once he realizes his position is secure, he will lose focus on defense and start missing rotations at the most inopportune times. I fear he will lose his cool at a crucial moment and get hit with a silly technical. I fear these things because that's what I've seen from him throughout his career, his ego has always seem to get in the way of him realizing what his role should be. But he is still young, and it seems like his recent experiences have humbled him a bit, so there is some hope. I've seen him play great in stretches before, so him having a couple of good games with the Rockets is not necessarily a predictor of his future with the team. But I'll be damned if I say that he does not look like a good fit for the team, especially in this time of need. So I guess I'll trust that Morely knows better and hope that he continues to be a contributor, as the Rockets really could use him if he does.
Uh. I wasn't a naysayer. I said we stooped low because I think it's funny we're supposed to be excited about getting Austin Rivers. I still dislike the fact that people are jumping up and down like he's our savior. Just like the ones who bumped this thread.
A HUGE underrated aspect of Ariza on the roster last year was his ability to guard Point Guards. That allowed CP to rest a little bit to save himself on the offensive end. Ariza was versatile. Rivers RETURNS some of that defense on the PG spot. So it is important.
the media just loves to stir things up and cuz the rockets were losing in the beginning they wanted to make it appear it had a lot to do with ariza yes this is vital. We've needed someone to replace beverleys role since he left and we got him for the minimum! rivers needs to bust his ass on D for 30 minutes a game and let paul and harden play the passing lanes for steals. at least force the other team to switch onto harden or paul through double screens.
I look at Austin Rivers and I basically see a more in control and far more cost efficient version of Jeremy Lin.
i was a rivers hater. but now im a fan. it is what it is, im GLAD he showed me wrong. i think with house, green and rivers, we gotta team. for now at least. its just working.
What he's doing is incredible," Rockets guard Austin Rivers told ESPN. "What he's doing is a Kobe. Man, that's a Kobe run. That's what he's doing. He's doing it so effortlessly. That's the thing. It's not like he's forcing it or like he's shooting the ball every time. I mean, it's crazy.. He's just different, man. "For real, you can't stop him. Back to back [MVP]. He's going to end up winning this s--- back to back. Nobody in the league can do what he's doing right now. He's winning back to back MVPs. It's incredible." This is what you say when you see this sh*t that’s going down up close
You dont think after last seasons wcfs exit the most important player to get was old man cp3's backup/insurance?
