When Miles Jai Thomas arrived at a party at the Craig Ranch North Community Pool in McKinney, Texas, on Friday night, the pool was open to everyone -- until a security guard showed up and removed black partygoers from the area. “Then he started making up rules to keep us out,” Thomas, 15, told The Huffington Post. A white woman at the pool started making racist comments, Thomas said, such as telling black teens at the party to get used to the bars outside the pool because that’s all they were going to see. Grace Stone, 14, who is white, told BuzzFeed News that she and friends objected to an adult woman making racist comments to other teens at the party and that the woman turned violent. This is when, according to Thomas, a 19-year-old black woman told the belligerent white woman to stop fighting with the teenagers. The white woman called the black woman a “young b****,” then walked up to her. After the young woman said her age out loud, the older woman punched her in the face. Another unidentified white woman jumped in as well before Thomas, who was recording the incident, and his friends went to break it up. It was after this incident that the cops showed up and “started cursing and yelling at us,” Thomas said. He described an officer manhandling a young girl, as shown in this video embedded above. “So a cop grabbed her arm and flipped her to the ground after she and him were arguing about him cursing at us,” Thomas said. When two teens went toward the cop to help the girl, they were accused of sneaking up on the cop to attack. “So a cop yelled 'get those mother****ers' and they chased [us] with guns out. That's why in the video I started running,” Thomas said. "I was scared because all I could think was, 'Don't shoot me,'" he said. About 20 people were handcuffed during the incident, Thomas estimated. McKinney Chief of Police Greg Conley said in a press conference that one arrest was made, according to BuzzFeed News. This story is developing and will be updated as we hear back from people involved in the incident.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/07/texas-pool-party_n_7530502.html
So basically, some racist white people didn't like blacks in their pool, tried to kick them out, then called the cops on them, who took their side and assumed the blacks teens in their swim gear were causing trouble. But how can this be? Obama is president. There is no more racism in America.
never go full r****ded...that cop went full r****ded...deserves to lose his badge, should get a criminal charge and civil lawsuit against him.
This. At some point in time the "peace officer" part of the job was lost. This was a bunch of children at a pool. There were no reports of guns or weapons. Approach the situation calm and in command. This isn't war torn Bosnia...
Agreed Reading this thread. . . too much in here to touch on but trying to stay focused on the main thing This cops needs 1. To lose his job. 2. be Charged with Assualt and sent to prison 3. Sued into the poor house alone with his whole department What will probably happen 1. He'll get a paid vacation 2. Some money maybe paid out 3. Once again Black people will be know that their distrust in police/authorities is justified. Rocket River
We need to know what happened before the video started. The police were trying to get people to stay put and in one place -- we need to know why. Some chose not to do that, lipped off and physically resisted. Then a mob scene ensued that caused the cops to feel threatened. Why can't people simply listen to the police when they tell them to do something? Those male kids did, and nothing happened to them. What drives others to run their mouths and not listen?
what was the point of doing a barrel roll in that situation? guess he just needed to get hyped up. unfortunately it's not an snl skit, these guys are the ones 'protecting' and 'serving'.
Seems like the cops had the entire situation under control before Barney Fife showed up and started barrel- rolling, yelling and screaming at everyone. Some of the "mob" actually gave that one cop (who was calmly talking to a group of kids) his flashlight back. That guy was totally out of control. Everyone else, including the other cops, seemed chill before he showed up. Can't believe no one has made a gif of that barrel roll yet. (hint, hint)
people are all up in here screaming racism, but it looks like the African Americans who followed orders didn't have any problems at all. So there goes that hypothesis. and what's the tally on the injured here? zero?
This^^^^ How many times do we have to go through this exercise? In the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman situation, the media published reports supportive of Trayvon Martin based on conjecture and insufficient facts. A lynch mob type protest gang was assembled, while the media and some of our leading politicians did everything they could to whip up as much racial and animosity as possible. In the end, a trial was held, which included evidence and testimony from BOTH sides, and George Zimmerman was properly exonerated. In the Ferguson situation, the same thing happened again. The media published one-sided accounts based on false information and conjecture, clearly intending to inflame racial tensions, with the assistance of some of our leading politicians. In the end, it was shown that the initial reports were misleading and wrong. Michael Brown attacked the police officer and the police officer acted within the law, and was exonerated. So, here we go again with the one-sided, racially charged narrative. What we need to do is find out all the facts, from ALL sides. There needs to be an investigation, which is apparently underway, with accountability being meted out according to the standards of the law, and NOT according to the whims of any sort of media inspired leftist lynch mob. To be fair, based on this one video it does appear that this cop was behaving in an overzealous manner. But once again, we do not have all the facts, and most people in this thread certainly do not appear to be cognizant of what the responsibilities of this officer were in this situation. If the situation turns out to be as simple as the single perspective provided by this video, as we know from the other examples I noted above is usually NOT the case, then some sort of disciplinary action against the officer may be in order, although this does not appear a firing offense based on what we can see here. Once again, what we are looking for here is not the knee-jerk, media inflamed calls from the leftist lynch mob types, some of who have posted here in this thread. What we need is a proportionate response to this situation that takes ALL the relevant information into account, including the formal expected standards of police conduct in this sort of a situation. And then let justice be carried out to the fullest extent of the law.
^^ People only see the parts of the news they WANT to believe. And the way the news media is set up, there are providers that deliberately only show one side of the story in order to generate page clicks, which drives their advertising revenues. So basically if you're looking for a news story that supports your view, you can easily find it (i.e., Huffington Post, CNN, MSNBC, Daily Kos, Bossip), no matter whether the police were justified or not. People are being duped every day, just so the news media can make that money.
I'm sorry, but please tell me in what situation is it acceptable to slam a 14 year old girl in her bikini to the ground by her hair because she was talking back at you while walking away. Stop it. Just please ****ing stop it. You are a joke on this message board for a while now.
