Police departments are putting out warnings to "people" reminding them not to play pokemon while driving. Or walking in traffic.

I've tried to understand this stuff, but as best I can tell you kids are rolling around paying money to try and find cartoon characters in the "real world" but on your phone. Am I wrong?

Pretty much. It's raised Nintendo's value by $7 billion, and about to have more DAU than twitter (among Android users). Insanity.

I haven't played this game (and probably never will) but I think the concept is absolutely genius!

Yeah, I know all that and am actually very happy about it, but I'm just wondering why it seems to be 20-30 somethings that are playing this? I don't get it, pokemons were little kids things, right?

Is it pokeman itself that is so cool?
Is it that plus the cell phone addiction?
Is it those plus the social media aspect of people's lives now?

I seriously don't get it. I'd like to understand though.

    What about it is fun?

Not talking **** or making fun of anyone, I'm still honestly really curious about this.

Nostalgia. Pokemons were little kids things to the 20-30 somethings of today.

Kinda hard to quantify why a game is fun or not. Especially one as different as this. Might be the difference. I dunno. Try it out for yourself. It's free. After a while, it just plays itself.

The Pokemon video games from the 90's still holds up even as an adult. The cartoon, and the trading cards were very much kid things, but the game is legit.

If you play video games, it's like asking how an adult could play a Zelda game. Just because it may be kid friendly, doesn't mean it isn't good.

Thanks, guys. I still don't understand, but I understand more than I did before.

I tried talking to my investment guy, he couldn't explain anything either, he just told me to be happy.

It's also 'the thing' right now. I work in the tech/startup world and a few people I've talked to are very interested to see how it'll hold up in a few weeks/months.

The question isn't whether or not this thing has staying power but rather, how big can it get? This isn't Angry Birds, Flappy Bird or Minecraft. This is the cultural gaming phenomenon of the 90s reinvented into successful augmented reality. The range this has (businesses, churches, schools, etc as Poke Stops) is unprecedented and could only be accomplished by this franchise.

That being said I just ran out of Pokeballs and need to take my dog out for a walk to hit up the local Poke Stop.

Dude I have so many balls I constantly have to empty my ball sack because it is so full. I'm discharging potions all the time in favor of hyper potions.

I'm trying here, but the first person that talks like this to me in the real world might get smacked in his Poke Mouth.

Do you people realize what you sound like? This is hilarious to me. Rock on you magnificent bastards.
