Rafer Alston is a player who was known to take many bad shots during the game. Clutch was saying that the poster "Pragmagician" is creating too many random threads about Jeremy Lin, when he could have just posted his thoughts in an existing thread. There are too many threads about one player, most of which are negative and lack any logic.

    1. Don't you think Morey is just saying there is no trade of Lin & Asik in case the Howard deal falls through so those 2 will not have hurt feelings?

    2. Do you think that it will dissuade Howard to join the Rockets if it means those 2 will be traded since that would put added pressure on him?

    3. In that case, if Howard does not ask to play with Josh Smith and would join the Rockets as they are currently, isn't that less attractive to him because Lin is always looking to push the ball while Howard wants a slower pace?

    4. So, isn't Howard choosing not only if he wants to join the Rockets, but also if he wants to ask them to acquire Josh Smith, because they would do it if he asked them to?

    5. Do you think it is in his personality to do that considering he wouldn't ask the Lakers to fire D'antoni or are those two different things?

For him to reportedly want to play with Lin & but also that he wants to play a slower pace, that doesn't make sense.

Why wouldn't it make sense? Lin can push the pace and can do his football passes and try to get the ball up the court before the defense sets. If nothing is there, they move into a slower half-court set. You can mix both.

Push to try to get in before the defense sets. If you find no easy shots on the fast break or unprepared defense you can knife into, you back off, reset and toss it to Howard to post up or Harden to iso. Or you run a P'n'r to get him the ball in the paint.

During the Knicks, the stats showed Lin was actually better in the half-court than in transition. He performed serviceably with Melo and a slower pace game after D'antoni was gone and Woodson took over. They even went on a bit of a run before he tore his meniscus. So he can certainly work in a slowed down half-court game with another star who needs the ball, as long as he still gets to play his position of point guard and not spot up shooter. Perhaps not optimal, but serviceable. Even with Harden, he did well in the second half of last season, with decent spot up shooting even if not great. Not optimal use of Jeremy's p'n'r and decision making skills, but serviceable.

Well, I guess the Lin pass ahead to Asik because he beat his man down the court is a play that we won't be seeing anymore since Howard doesn't want to play like that.

I actually think if you are going to be a running team everybody has to be committed to running.

That would be really hard to change styles when it was such an emphasis last season particularly with Lin.

I am for signing Josh Smith if Howard signs some place else. Would just need to trade Greg Smith. Playing Jones & Donatas as backup 4 & 5 could do okay. Jones is competent at shot-blocking.

I'm disappointed in how long it's taking Clutch to post a new podcast. :p
