When's the last time you've been to Galveston? You're acting like it's a ghost town.

I prefer it the way it is right now. It's already too crowded.

It will just end up looking like Atlantic City. Do not want.

I drove by the Pier this weekend. It looks almost exactly like the Santa Monica Pier.( which I have always thought was smallish for its tourist destination status) I'm sure it is overpriced but it does look like an hour or two of family fun.

By the way, the tourist count on the Island this weekend was over 500,000!
And that was with a massive mat of seaweed.

It may be a sh***y beach, but it's close for a lot of people.

I only really care if there are a lot of girls in swimsuits ... and down on the West end, there certainly were.

    Ah...the west end of Galveston.

Remember when you could drive right up to the surf, pitch a tent and build a campfire right on the beach? Killed a lot of brain cells in those days!

Yup, and open containers were in abundance for all of us under 21! Waking up at daylight after partying all night to the sounds of keg stands...good times.

The smart people take a RIGHT at 61st and Seawall, not a LEFT.

    Don't tell anyone though...

The wife and I checked it out this weekend. Very good weekend to go cause it wasn't crowded at all and every ride had no wait. It's pretty fun, but I got motion sickness (and I never do)...I guess I just didn't wait long enough after eating I dunno. The rides are fun though, but probably not worth it if you don't get an all day pass. We didn't go on all the rides and only rode one twice but still it paid for itself. The games though really suck big time. 3 bucks for one play....that's 3 bucks for one basketball shot, 3 bucks for one dart or baseball toss. Rodeo I'm pretty sure you get three tries on most games. It would have been nice if they had some arcade type games or D&B style games too, but no. Just standard carnival games at inflated prices.

Not sure I'd go back. It was fun to do it once, but unless they expand on the place - add some additional piers to connect with the main one that have maybe some bars and more restaurants and more rides and games - then there's not much desire for a return trip.

I guess it was more me than the park. But I thought for the price of stuff I could've done better. The coaster was decent and the tall ride that swings you around were okay but there wasn't much else to do for me to justify the price. I suppose I'm just not as easily amused as I used to be

Kinda the same feeling I have. I'm not an amusement park person either, though.

Of course. Kids think this place is awesome. I know I would if I was still young. A little pricey though.

I know it's a bit of a different experience, but if you're trying to go to galveston go to moody gardens or schlitterbahn instead. The parents can enjoy that too
