I wish we were in the eastern conference....8th seed is gonna be 10 games below .500 (charlotte or indiana)
We have the tie breaker with Memphis. We do not with Portland/New Orleans. Rockets Remaining Schedule v San Antonio v Atlanta v Sacramento @ New Orleans v LA Clippers v Dallas @ Minny Portland's Remaining Schedule v Oklahoma City v Dallas v Golden State @ Utah v LA Lakers v Memphis @ Golden State New Orleans' Remaining Schedule v Memphis v Indy v Houston v Phoenix @ Memphis v Utah @ Dallas Memphis' Remaining Schedule @ New Orleans v Minny v LA Clippers v Sacramento v New Orleans @ Portland @ LA Clippers IF THE ROCKETS GO 7-0, we will be a 46-win team: Memphis must go 4-3 OR (Portland OR NO) must go 2-5 IF THE ROCKETS GO 6-1, Memphis must go 3-4 OR (Portland or NO) must go 1-6 IF THE ROCKETS GO 5-2, Memphis must go 2-5 OR (Portland or NO) must go 0-7 IF THE ROCKETS GO 4-3, Memphis must go 1-6 IF THE ROCKETS GO 3-4, Memphis must go 0-7 That is pretty much it. It is slim but it is existent.
Memphis and New Orleans winning tonight combined with the Rockets' loss really was the last nail in the coffin for me. We're still alive mathematically, but I just don't see the Grizzlies going 4-3 AND the Rockets going 7-0. Time to take out the fork.
I agree. Its very very very very slim (wrote it out just to confirm it for myself). There really isn't much reason to tank since we aren't that close to moving up a spot. I hope they do go 7-0 even if they don't make it, it would be a nice end to a crap season.
Oh they'll play hard until the end, and I'm glad for it. And I'm happy they kept their playoff hopes alive for as long as they did. Without their amazing play since the trade deadline, we'd be talking about the offseason already.

So the Rockets are on pace to be the Best of the Worst?? (the team with best record among teams not making the playoffs) I have a feeling that's exactly how this will play out.
Your feeling is statistically justified. In other words it is the most realistic expectation possible at this moment. Congratulations! You're saved .
We must win every game from here on out. Lets assume we go 7-0 to end the season. All we need is New Orleans to beat Memphis twice: @NOR - L MIN - W LAC - W SAC - W NOR - L @POR - L @LAC - W Memphis ends up 46-36 and we are in the playoffs. It is a long shot but not impossible. I haven't given up hope yet.
I think it's over. Rockets are 3 games behind the Grizzly's. There are 7 games to go... The team fell apart against Miami and the 76's at the end. Missed layups, fumbling the ball, reckless passes that led to turnovers, etc. It just seemed that they got burned out of both games. This would have been where a Shane Battier would have kept everyone's head into the game. When Hayes, Lowry, and Scola were having mistakes, Battier could have stepped up to calm them down. It was just escalating and a close game became a decisive loss. This Rockets team still is not ready for prime time.
It's over, it's done with, we can't play. <a href="http://media.photobucket.com/image/crying/nchoate97/bye.gif?o=12" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/l562/nchoate97/bye.gif" border="0"></a> Lets Go Bulls.
there are so many douche bags that need to be banned... sigh...and i never think this way, but damn, you guys are not fans, why are you here???
I think we have a chance at catching Portland. They're gonna lose at least 4 games coming up here soon (OKC, Mavs, Lakers, etc.)
So I am not a fan beauce I think we cant beat the odds? Would I be a fan when we are 5 games behing with 1 game left and still saying we can make it?
