I am taking a crack at creating a website for my brothers band. They have provided a background picture and a seperate picture which is their bands logo. The logo is against a black background so when placed inside a table against the background picture it is very obvious. I have photoshop and would like to fade the edges around the logo so it is not as obvious but I have no clue where to start. Should I be approaching this differently? Any help would be appreciated.

Basically, what you want is a feathered edge. Select an area say 20 pixels in from the edge on all sides. From the Select menu, choose "Inverse" to select the border and click delete. That will clear away an edge of the picutre. Next, choose Select-->Inverse again to re-select the image. Choose Select-->Feather and pick 10 or 15 pixels. Click delete and it will smooth out the edges of the photo.

Thanks for the tips, tricks and links. All most useful in helping me learn to play with photoshop. But I still ahvent been able to get something satisfying. I can sucessfully feather the edges but the log still is obvious against the background picture. You an look at the website www.droughtmusic.com and see what I am referring to. You can look at home page with the feathered and check out the BIO page for the logo without the feathered edges. Both are obvious. Whatever solution I create I want to take into effect the fact that some people will view teh webpage in larger monitors or with different monitor setting and the logo will not always be the same size. Ultimatley I want the logo blended in with background picture as best as possible so depending on the factors above it will not be always so obviuos. Again, I may be going at this the wrong way. Any advice would be most welcome.
