[Photography] I'm a beginner, how am I doing so far?

Nice Pics! I was just at the Royal Gorge in November. Cool place.

 

Love these (except the one with that dude, that's kind of weird). Great shots of Royal Gorge.

 

For honest criticism, I think the skies on your black and whites need some work. They come across as very flat, foggy, kind of a glare look. Again, just honest criticism, still solid shots overall.

 

Take some black and white pictures of a knocked over lawn chair, THEN get back to me.

 

Don't take my comments literally. that was a compliment. .

BTW, what kind of camera and lens do you have?

 

Pretty good for starters.

The composition could have been better. Rule of thirds would have made things better in a few of those photos.

you definitely got the eyes of a photographer. great shots.

 

yea, unless you're using a polarizing filter or an ND filter you're always going to get a washed out sky when shooting midday and metering off anything besides the sky. too much contrast between the dark and light areas. dawn and dusk are when you get the best lighting.
