Homemade pho can be delicious if you know how to make it but it’s a lot of ingredients and time consuming. Especially if you do it right by charring the onions, ginger and garlic then you gotta find obscure ingredients like star anise, cardamom pods, coriander seeds etc. then you gotta cook the beef knuckles, oxtail, marrow etc for several hours and you gotta pick up all the fresh produce toppings as well. That’s a whole lotta work for a bachelor. Pho is one of those things I’d rather eat out/take out for reasons above. There’s plenty of good spots in my area. Especially since Vietnamese food is cheap and I like to order salad rolls or sandwich and get a grilled lemongrass chicken and rice or bo luc lac for later.
