Hey McFly, TEX was there with in ChiTown! The reason Tex was mentioned was because Phil always gets credit for it. He is more overrated than anything else. He did pretty good with Scottie Quitten and Kukoc. He won a ring because of talent that he had when he coached. When Dale was there, Kobe wasn't the player he was now. I guess you also believe that Gregg Popovich is a great coach too since he has a ring. Once again, let me turn the light switch on for you, or is it the case where the lights are on and no one is home. Outside Shooters = destory a zone That is it in 2nd or 1 grade terms I guess you read the first post, or does the 8 refer to your IQ?
Yes it was, the replies reference kidrock8. The original message was on the Motion=iso? I get the dunce award for hitting New Topic instead of reply.
haha that is in reply to me from a thread one week ago. Apparently, Tex Winter is the one who got Jordan, Kobe, and Shaq to mature. I love how he calls me McFly, when he's the bonehead who is replying to an old thread by starting a new topic. At the very least, he could say who he's replying to.
So you are saying that Jackson could mature Antawn Jamison to Jordan/Kobe or Shaq? Why did he leave for 1 year and would ONLY go to the Lakers? Oh also let me guess, Don Nelson all of a sudden got super smart last year and was a better coach? The 2 years that Rudy won was because he was a good coach and that is why he has the rings, but since then he has forgotten how to coach.
Obviously, you don't really care to talk about basketball with your lame cutdowns, such as "McFly" as well as "I guess you read the first post, or does the 8 refer to your IQ?" Maybe if you knew how to discuss about something as light-hearted as basketball, without feeling the need to act childish, I would deem you worthy of a normal response. However, you've proven yourself to be a mental midget, who goes out of his way to bring up a pretty much dead topic. If you're lucky, maybe some other poster will answer the questions you have for me.
When i saw Fox fight with Pippen during a western final game then i found out that Phil always keep a Rodman like player to fight key players in other teams. Before that game, Fox was a nice player(or i had not seen him act like that?). I dont know if Rocket had a similar one during 95/96.
Did you hear what Phil Jackson said after the Fox-Christie fight? He blamed it all on Christie. Even Divac admitted that they all acted very unprofessionally. And Jackson had the gall to say it was all Christie's fault when Fox went to the length to ambush Christie in the tunnel. That shows you what kind of person Jackson is.
If Phil Jackson cant be considered a genius because that offense is Tex Winter's offense, then he should at least be considered a genius for having Winter on his staff. Talent does not always win rings. Phil Jackson did have Pippen/Jordan and Kobe/Shaq. But a coach is still responsible for putting that talent into a position to win and to make sure the skill of the talent he has is maximized. Some may consider it to be cheap that Phil sat out one year and waited for the right opportunity. However, Phil is smart that way. Hes not going to go work for a team that has the type of talent that he feels would not succeed in his system. In the end, its a combination of coaching and talent.
I think the lame cut downs started with the: And it(my response) was a lame retaliation in response. I will admit to it. I have no problem with discussing basketball. Neither do I care to trash talk. I understand now that in your first post you were being cynical in reference to the iso vs. motion. My points about Jackson are that he has won with good players, when he was coaching the players were the best in the league. Coaching does have a factor, but players play the game. I remember when Clemons was in Dallas and Reeves ran the pick and role and disregarded what Clemons had to say and management supported Reeves.
The day that Phil Jackson coaches the Clippers or the Hawks or the Heat or the Warriors to a Ring is the day he becomes a 'great' coach. Even now, he's still nothing but a gravy-trainer at his core. He went to Chitown after MJ was there. As jordan made his teams better and better, so too, apparently did Jackson become a great coach. What a coincidence. And sorry Phil, but I would dare to propose that over half the head coaches in the NBA right now would most likely have been able to coach the Lakers to the past 3 rings, given the overwhelming talent gap they have enjoyed during that span. And before I get blasted, I am sure Phil is in fact a good x & o basketball coach. I just do not agree that he deserves as much credit as he receives. As good as he may be, the fact that he has undoubtedly been far more lucky than good necessarily means that we will not know whether he truly posesses that 'greatness' so many people want to ascribe to him until he coaches successfully in a less-than-ideal situation. How good a coach, really, is Pat Riley? Definitely not as good as everyone thought he was at the end of the 80's. Think of the 'genius' Mike Holmgren. Nowhere near as good as everyone thought he was when he left Favre. Same deal for Phil, except that we probably will never know for sure, since he is a cherry-picker, and will likely never jeopardize his 'greatness' legacy by ever allowing himself to coach a team that he wasn't already pretty sure would win the whole thing whether he was there or not. And watch, as soon as the Lakers start to go downhill, he will bail, just like he did in Chicago. Phil Jackson: Great Coach, or Gravy-Training Cherry Picker ? Probably somewhere on the low side of the middle, IMO. Ciao
Triangle offense...my a$$. I have a better one Pentagonoffense. It always makes someone soundingly smarter when he says something no one understands!!
I don't know what the hell this thread is about... I'd merge it, but I have no clue what to merge it with... moving it would be pointless, but it sure doesn't belong in this forum. Try posting in whatever thread you meant to post in, Steve Phrancis - maybe you'll get some responses there.
