That *might* have been worth a single post in the series thread... but um, no, not worthy of an entire thread. You are the Mike Brown 4th-quarter coaching move of our own NBA Dish.
You mean the power of the Zen Master would have induced Kobe to score instead of turning the ball over?
Kobe was 0-5 in the last 2 minutes with 2 costly turnovers and letting harden blow by him. that's the coaches fault?
so, how tempted is tinman right now to start a "Horry would have made that shot" thread, except for the fact he already posted that in the series thread.
Phil Jackson lost in the second round last year. Are there people out there that think Phil Jackson never lost a game, or a playoff series? When the Lakers didn't have quite as much talent, btw, they were beaten in the first round. Their coach? Phil Jackson.
We know Kobe is desparate to match Jordan's ring count. Let's assume he believes the Lakers' front office is incompetent and the roster inadequate. What can he do about it? Demand to be traded? His contract is insane. OTOH I don't see him just lying down and accepting the status quo. But what choice does he have?

I'm not that excited to talk about a play in this thread, but talking about plays in the series thread gets flooded out. Both Brown and now Kobe in post-game interviews explain the last play -- the one at 18 seconds that led to the timeout, before switching to Gasol getting the inbounds and Kobe getting fouled with 5 seconds. The Thunder gapped (short cut) the play before, so they planned for that, with Gasol setting a flare screen. But Artest thought it was busted (Kobe and Brown thought it worked for a pass to the weakside), so Artest passed to a wide open Blake. I think that play worked. But, I also think Kobe dribbling with a foul to give was not correct, as kenny said. So, what happened was according to Kobe, Brown and Kenny: 18 seconds, they run a play for Kobe receiving a strong side inbounds. Sefolosa "short-cut" it so Artest calls time out. They run another with Gasol getting the ball and handing off to Kobe too far out and Kobe doesn't attack and gets fouled with 5 seconds. Called a "mistake" by Kenny and Barkley because of the foul to give. They run a 5 second play to foil the first one that Thunder gapped. With a flair screen for Kobe to go weakside. Kobe and Brown say it worked. I think Gasol's pick worked on Sefolosa, but Gasol's man seemed to switch well. Artest throws to an open Blake. That's a good decision. I'd say #4 was a mistake by Kobe, not Brown. And the #5 play was pretty good. And the #6 decision by Artest was good. Who cares what PJax would have done. Can we just discuss the sequence?
One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that Kobe was 0-5 in the last 2 minutes with 2 costly turnovers. That's the coaches fault? Don't forget that he was letting Harden blow by him.
