They didn't sell the first time around. That was the main reason they changed them. Les was making much less in Jersey sales compared to other teams in the league, even after we won the 2 championships.
Never should have messed with the uniforms. The curse of Chucky Brown is starting to fade in power compared to the curse of the cast off championship uniforms. Bring them back next year and I guarantee the Rockets win the championship.
Booo!!! I think the only reason people want that stuff back is for nostalgic reasons. That mustard and ketchup logo just has not stood the test of time. And what the hell is with the lowercase 't'? Is that supposed to look cool? I am perfectly fine with our current logo/uniforms.
The current jerseys are good, but the throwbacks are great. I wouldn't expect them to change back to that style. Is there anywhere you can get a custom throwback, or a throwback for some of the current rockets?
Actually, if I remember correctly in one of the games when they wore those jerseys, an opposing center WAS hanging all over Yao, abusing him down low. Can't remember who though. At the end of the jersey it was practically hanging off of him. Maybe that pic was taken from that game?

I only buy Rockets gear with the old logo on it or using the old championship style font. Just look at the stands at Toyota Center and you see a lot of people sporting the old logo gear. They sell a distressed t-shirt with the old logo and a couple of championship era stuff at the store and they seem to sell pretty well. While our current unis and logo are not the joke they once were bring back the championship logo and unis. I just frigging love that old logo.
I would sign that petition in a heartbeat. I've never been a huge fan of the current jerseys, though i have to say they are huge improvement over the dreaded pinstripe under-roos. To this day I still associate the Rockets with that old yellow & gold. I keep hoping that one day they will go back to it. To me that will always be the true Rockets logo.
Very good, really like the color scheme. It seems as if all the other teams have either a home alternate or road alternate except us. We're either red or white, we need to add a grey/silver or black or any new uniform.
True, but nostalgia and a sense of ultra-legit-ness will bring the sales back up today. I love the old logo, colors, and jerseys. Bringing all that back would do wonders.
I don't know about modernizing it. Seems like everyone wants to try to improve something that's already perfect. Longer shorts would be a must but that's about it. Great idea on the theme! Someone posted a dark blue version of the Clutch City era jersey and I was like "where can I buy it!?"
Ketchup and mustard was the Rockets identity. You can make yellow and red look good. The Rockets just need to modernize their championship jerseys a little. Houston hasn't been to the finals since.
I remember hearing that the rockets put in a request to the NBA to bring back the old color scheme (ketchup and mustard) at the time of getting rid of the pajamas, but it was turned down b/c cleveland took those colors in that same year (96). Someone pls chime in if this is a true story or rumor. If true, it may be unlikely that we could ever get the old style back.
