Can they proved that he played with it? If not, he'll just use the "Sammy Sosa Defense" that it was just a practice bat that he used to impress the crowds with.
I need a more reputable source to report this, and we'd have to confirm that it actually is a Pete Rose bat, that hasn't been altered after use.
No kidding. Can you say random non sequitur? Incidentally, I was at the game in 87 when Billy Hatcher got caught with his corked bat. I was there with my buddy - who has no functional reproductive organs - and we didn't know what happened until we saw the news that night.
ya need a better source than deadspin. but at this point does it matter? i mean hes banned from baseball....meanwhile roid heads are still playing/in the game.
Whatever. Doesn't change my opinion of the guy in the least. Screw Pete Rose. I'm glad that his accomplishments are enshrined in Cooperstown, but I'm equally glad that he doesn't have a plaque there, and I truly hope he never gets one.
A corked bat to hit singles??? (man....anybody else old enough to remember the excitement of the '78 hitting streak?) Give the man a cookie.
"This is an article in 2010 about Pete Rose cheating....and this is something you actually haven't heard a billion times over the last twenty years."
All its really good for. Helps you get the bat through the zone quicker, but doesn't really add the power people believed them to.
hmmmmm....good point. Still.....with all the man's accomplishments on the field, it's crazy he's not in the HOF. All because of a few friendly wagers, and a little cork in a bat . (I know I'm not going to win this discussion.....but I'm still a fan of ol' Charlie Hustle).
of course he cheated...once a cheater, always a cheater..oh wait..we're talking about baseball right?
Not surprising . Charlie Hustle seems just to be an all-round cheater, was still a heck of a hitter though.
Now that you mention it, can you please link me to the anti-cork circle jerk forum? I need a place to "express" myself.
