Mickeal & Tito join forces once again: I don't see any reason why can't we just reunite the Jackson 5 and they can perform at halftime or something? We already have 2 of the members in Mickeal and Tito; and I am sure we can add the other 3 brothers, whose names I can't remember at the moment. Or maybe Moochie can just come out with his fro fully decked out in his pimp suit? You know Calvin Murphy would join in on the festivities and Bostjan can be the 5th and just do the Boki-Pokey as the crowd roars in excitement. Just a random thought for some halftime entertainment
Yes I remember him in his Cinci days with Dermarr Johnson, and Kenyon Martin's team he was a defensive specialist there but I always thought that he was decent. Hoever if he has improved his game like that, whoa! I would like to keep him if it is like that, I also have to wonder though, what about Tierre?
What about Tierre?? LOL JK JK LOL we gotta check out training camp to see who improved and who is willing to improve. Its gonna be pretty tight watching Tierre and Pete.I CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone have information on whether Mickeal's torn achilles affects his current play? Is he as quick as Oscar?
http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Rockets_Sign_Brown_And_Torres-53954-34.html Rockets Sign Brown And Torres HOUSTON (Sept. 26) - The Houston Rockets have signed guards Tierre Brown and Oscar Torres to non-guaranteed contracts, general manager Carroll Dawson announced today. Both players will participate in Rockets training camp, which begins on Tuesday, Oct. 1 in Austin, Texas. Brown Brown averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 assists in 40 games last season as a rookie with the Rockets. The 6-2, 189-pound point guard reached double figures in scoring five times, including a career-high 16 points in the season finale at Portland on Apr. 17. Among NBA rookies, Brown ranked tied for 13th in assists per game, as he led Houston in assists on three occasions. Prior to joining the Rockets, Brown averaged 15.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in four seasons at the McNeese State. Torres Torres stood as the highest scoring non-drafted rookie in the NBA last season, averaging 6.0 points in 65 games with the Rockets. Among NBA rookies, the 6-6, 210-pound shooting guard ranked second in free throw percentage and eighth in 3-point percentage. Torres averaged 12.4 points in 13 starts and 13.4 points while Steve Francis resided on the injured list. He scored in double digits 16 times, including a career-high 28 points vs. Cleveland on Dec. 11. Torres led Houston in scoring four times and reaching 20 points four times. In the 2002 FIBA World Championship Games, he averaged 14.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals for Venezuela. Prior to joining the Rockets, he played professionally Venezuela for four seasons .
Thanks for the article tonay. If Pete is half of how they describe him, then he would fit in with the rockets nicely. Hope he males a tremendous comeback to the NBA while he's with the Rox.
Game roster: Point Guards: Steve, Mooch, Tito Shooting Guards: Cat, Torres, (Steve, Boki, Tito) Power Forwards: EG, MT, (KT) Centers: Yao, Cato, (MT, EG) Small Forwards/ Swingmen: Rice, KT, Boki, (Torres) IR: Mickeal, Brown, Collier Great depth and IR holds quality replacements if injury occurs.
The first backup shooting guard should be Steve Francis. Tito Maddox will probably back him up. If Mickeal makes the team, he'll most likely start on the I.R. With some of the reports coming out of the summer leagues, it seemed the coaching staff left there unsatisfied with Tierre Browns selfish play. So I don't expect him to make the team. Torres and Mickeal will be battling for that thrid shooting guard spot which will probably be filled on the IR to begin the season. RiceRocket, replace Brown with Goodrich and I think we're set.
What reports are you talking about? Do you have some insider information because I don't think I've seen any reports here that would give me that impression. Did I miss something??
Im sure my memory serves me correctly. The reports were from Dr of Dunk, he seemed to imply that Rudy and Boylen were constantly riding Tierre's ass from the sideline about one thing or another even though Tierre managed to score at will. I take it this was due to his selfish play. And while Tito Maddox didn't put up near the amount of points Tierre did, the coaching staff seemed to constantly offer him encouragement and praise his abilities. Do a search dude and read through the hundreds of pages dedicated to that thread. Im not going to do it for you. Search: Dr of Dunk --- summer league
Since Goodrich is a center, he is more likely to replace Collier than Brown even though Collier has guaranteed contract and Brown doesn't. From a basketball point of view (w/o considering money matters) Brown should be more valueable than Collier if Goodrich does pan out.
Tierre is just too good to sit on IR, someone else will want him if he doesn't stick. I don't think it matters if Collier or Goodrich sit on IR, MT and EG can fill 3rd string 5 roles.
if "pete" is worth anything than i would have heard about him before reading this thread... and i havent... therefor this man has no relevence to our short term or long term success... it doesnt matter who are back up SG is. seriously.
Cat averaged over 41 minutes per game last year. That leaves 7 for Steve at the 2. This backup 2 thing isn't all everyone is making it. Oscar, Mickeal and Tito can fill this just fine. C'mon Tuesday! I can't wait...
Hello Houston friends....................just wanted to congratulate y'all on the great pickup of Pete Mickeal. I am from Cincy and have watched every Bearcat game the last 10+ years. Trust me when I say this kid is a legitimate 20 points per game player. When Kenyon went down in the NCAA Tournament, Pete picked his game up significantly and carried us on his back. He is a winner and has an unbelievable record of never being on a losing team. Demarr Johnson (out this year due to a major car accident) disappeared in the tournament and never really lived up to his great promise. UC was ranked #1 in the nation for almost the full year and the best way to describe Pete is that he is scary consistant. You don't even notice he is playing for most of the game because his opponent never scores much on him and he is so smooth around the basket. The Reuben Patterson comparison is good however to a person we felt that Pete was a better overall player and a more intelligent human being. I am pumped that the Rox finally have a Bearcat on their roster.............just don't let him slip away!!! Oscar Torres and Tierre Brown are not in the same league as this guy and something is very wrong if Jason Collier (who is an embarrassment to the team) beats out Pete for the final spot on the roster. Take care all and Go Rockets!!!
Don't know why you're hating on Walt (Williams?), but I agree with your post. Without seeing them play in training camp, I'd put Pete in front of Tierre and Oscar, mostly due to his defensive abilities. Can he swing to the 3?
