Do you really think it had nothing to do with Alexander's desire to increase the game tempo and move in another direction? What if we beat Utah but lost to #8 seed Golden State? Would we have still fired JVG?
interesting. rockets dynasty just loves to throw "facts" out there and seeing what sticks. the next time he posts a link to something will be the first. of course, if he's banned all the better.
The fact that this franchise's value has been steadily skyrocketing since the 2003 draft doesn't hurt either.
Bottom line is JVG has been coaching this team for four years and he took the team to the playoffs three years out of the four and lost in the first round all three of those years. People need to get off this guys nutz! The coach has failed bottom line he got fired. People keep talking about how we won 52 games last year with Yao being out 30+ games who gives a care? What was the conclusion of all that... yes another first round exit loss in game 7. I was telling guys this past year during the season when the rockets were winning that JVG's system wouldn't hold up for us in the playoffs because it was too tough of a system for our finese team. We are not the Detroit Pistons or the old Knicks or even the 90's Rockets. The way our rotation was and style of play we displayed having success out of that was only going to last on a short term basis. In the playoffs a series is built on long-term results each team is able to respond through a 7 game series from game to game. Utah responded we had no answers JVG gets fired. Like Bill Walton said, "when you think of Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming do you think of a system that focuses on defensive grind it out basketball?" Hell to the NAW! What if we would have beat Utah, what if we would have beat Dallas, What if we would have beat the Lakers in 2004? Would we would have ever traded Francis? All of this roots from "I love JVG" homer imaginative thinking. Saying all that I still understand that JVG is a good coach but he is not the right coach for the rockets and obviously not the right coach for this organization.
