NO Josh Smith, NO Al Jefferson, and NO Milsap Josh Smith is not worth Max money which is what he's looking for. He's not a very good shooter, will clog up the paint, and doesn't play the post. He's a tweener and we've got plenty of that already. Plus if we sign him we won't have any money to attract anyone else. Al Jefferson is someone I actually did want, but then we got Asik, and then we got Harden. Al is too old for this team, he's still very productive and 1 of the best at what he does but he doesn't belong on the youngest team in the NBA. We need someone that will grow with our team, we sign Al now and he could be done in 2 or 3 years, and will cost at least $10 Mil/year. No Al Jefferson. We already have paul Milsap, we call him Patrick Patterson, Milsap is alot better no doubt, but a 6'9 PF that shoots jumpers almost exclusively is a SF. He's another tweener that would be better on another team or off the bench. Milsap can play just not in Houston. The ideal candidate is Aldridge or Love, Love won't be a free agent until 2015 and Minn won't let him go unless they're getting a future, young star, Love is not an option and we can't afford to wait 3 full years for him, plus Minn is pretty good and healthy they're a playoff team for sure. Aldridge is on a team that just gave $60 Mil to batum, drafted Lillard and Leaonard. Aldridge has great post moves and is money from 18 ft. He's a legit 6'11 and would give us that High percentage scorer we just don't have right now. He plays D and can pass as well. The exact type of player we want in Houston. Makes more sense for portland to dump his contract and get younger to match their core, forgot to mention Wesley Matthews as well. That team is not going to win anything with Aldridge so you might as well move him and build with their very talented young core. We have the players theyd want and still have our Draft Picks. Aldridge all the way. He's 27 and his currently salary fits right into our cap space. We could have Harden and Aldridge and be under the Luxury tax, now thats good business.
The reason why both are "in play" now is also the reason why HOU will not offer too much for them: these two are both unrestricted FAs after the year and Jazz is reluctant to spent too much (that is, near the max) on either of them long term. This means that if Morey wants, say, Millsap, he can just sign Millsap in free agency without giving up any assets. Only a team without the cap space to sign Millsap needs to give Utah assets in a trade now.
I know that I started this thread, but I'm now thinking that Morey won't do anything until Dwight Howard and Chris Paul are completely off the table i.e. have signed long-term contracts somewhere else. Only then will he start looking at Millsap, Jefferson, and Smith.
Disagree. I think Morey is going to try to trade at deadline using expiring contracts and cap space to get star player or star potential player as well as fill in a solid rotation guy.
The only reason I could see trading for one of them (probably Milsap) would be to escape from Lin's contract, so we could perhaps add Milsap and then still have max money in the off season for a third legit player. For instance: Jeremy Lin Pat Patterson for Paul Milsap Mo Williams This makes us a better team for a playoff push this year and allows us to retain Milsap and then still have max money for Paul, Howard or less than max for guys like Bynum, Iggy, etc.
the best he has been playing and leading was whenever he fought for his country.... outside of maybe one finals with the Lakers and some play with Memphis I get the great skillset, mediocre footspeed, afraid of contact and questionable motor
He is a typical Euro.... in that sense that they play it safe with age where is the drive to get better with age like Duncan or modify your game like a Garnett?
