Out of the game tonight with tendinitis in both knees per ESPN text. And his trade value falls even further...
Nah. Probably 90% of NBA players have some form of knee tendinitis. Out with Tendinitis is coach speak for rest. Tonight is their first of a 3 game in 4 night road trip, starting with us, ending with OKC. And he hasn't been playing lately, so more time to work on integration into their offense might be part of that decision, as well as shifting the media focus off Gasol.
If a 32 year old highly paid player having his worst year in a long time, now missing games due to tendinitis in his knees isn't a major red flag to you, you're not even a D-League caliber GM.
They can have Harden, but only if they take Parsons off Houston's hands as well. Parson's 900k annual salary is really putting a strain on owner Les Alexander's finances, and could jeopardize the Rockets' ability to improve in the coming years. (Am I doing this right?)
If I had to guess, it would be sometime between Dec. 15th (when a lot more contracts become tradable leaguewide) and Dec. 25th, which is one of the NBA's most important broadcast date$.
Tendinitis is only inflammation of the tendons. It's not a structural joint issue. As for it being a "red flag", I'll refer you to articles like this... http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/mi...0/get-ready-for-wave-of-tendinitis-in-the-nba or this... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002209/ There are a lot of potential red flags that can occur with a professional athlete, tendinitis at the age of 32 isn't one of them.
No I'd say sucking in general, as his game regresses to the point where he might as well be a title insurance underwriter with a pituitary problem playing rec ball at a YMCA, is definitely a bigger red flag when it comes to Pau Gasol.
law of diminishing returns with Gasol. He'll be 33 this offseason and knees don't magically improve at that age (believe me ...i know). IF we already had a 1st and 2nd option, then he might be worth a 2-year flier, but seeing as we just have Harden and are still far away from contention, the Gasol ship has sailed.
I dont think he is a great fit in terms of payroll, but its not my money. Does he help get easy buckets in the post????.... Yeah probably, he needs to play center to further his NBA career. What do we do with Asik at 15 mill..
Here I'll post a pic of Daryl Morey, too, to falsify a relationship between Gasol and the Rockets in the 2012-2013 NBA basketball season: "Pau Gasol out with knee tendinitis" It says tendonitis, but there's Daryl Morey's picture there on this message board, and isn't he GM of the Houston Rockets?? Well now I just don't know WHAT to believe.
Unconfirmed rumor he was traded to Atlanta for Josh Smith...not sure why Atlanta would make that deal if true.
