Unless the Clippers unload DeAndre or Blake, Pau won't be switching lockerrooms at Staples Center. I don't believe for one minute he will leave a boatload of money on the table. Some team is going to offer Pau $10-12 million/year for 2-3 years, he'll take the money and I won't blame him at all. If a contender comes in at just under what a scrub team offers, he will have the best of both worlds.
Only a few teams have legit chances at the marquee names in 2015. Never say, "No team will offer". As we've leaned in the past, it just takes one. And if Pau is the best player a given team can hope to get between this summer and next, they will go after him. After what he's going through this season, I will be very surprised if Pau agrees to a bench role anywhere. He will be a starter and get paid like one on a short-term contract.
$9 -- $11 million is about market vaue for a starting big, even at Gasol's age, he's still borderline all-star player and can give you a godo 15-18 ppg and 9-11 rebounds, that's good enough for some teams.
