i'm not saying d'antoni is the greatest coach ever or anything and i like pau, but mediocre posting up is not good when you have better options. if pau can't score in the post efficiently these days, he doesn't need to get more post attempts and can't let that keep him from playing hard. as for coming to the rockets, well we love our numbers, too, so that might be out. on the other hand, i'm pretty sure morey has a spreadsheet titled "never let dwight post up!" with only one cell filled in that also says "never let dwight post up!" but we let dwight post up all the time due to the other spreadsheet he has called "always keep stars happy!" so maybe it wouldn't be such a problem with pau.
Just wow at D'Antoni. (Not in a good way). This isn't some bench player we're talking about here. To basically call Pau lazy is taking it to a different level. Not classy.
Kobe and Phil Jackson have also called out Gasol in the past. But these guys had a relationship together back then and it doesn't look like Gasol and D'Antoni have now. Interesting to see how this works out (or doesn't). I think that D'Antoni is right about the basketball strategy and the probabilities, but wrong about his player psychology. Pau Gasol gets mopey when he doesn't feel wanted as a big part of a winning/contending team. He moped hard in his last season or two in Memphis (check their record, even in the games he played in) and it looks like he's doing it now-- Phil gone, Lakers tried to trade him, D'Antoni not valuing post play, Kobe gets paid and he doesn't all contribute to this.
pau should just unzip his big boy pants, take a dump on the fakers logo at halfcourt, and then pull an asik for a trade
D'Antoni splashed Pau with gasoline and set him on fire. That was uncalled for. He obviously can't stand the guy and announced it with a loudspeaker.
Yeah I know Kobe and Phil have called out Pau before but to my knowledge they have never basically called him lazy and said he was playing just for a check- in the media-like D'Antoni just did. That was a low blow and classless. D'Antoni may be right on Basketball strategy and how feeding Pau in the post hasn't helped the team out, but the manner he has gone about treating Pau since D'Antoni was hired has been terrible.
D'antoni was right about Kobe...but wrong about Gasol....He has never had any respect for Gasol or what he can do....granted gasol is no longer 2009 gasol...neither is Kobe.....Gasol plays best in half court set...at least recognize this and stop talking to him like he is some rookie who hasn't won anything... Gasol should catch the first bus on out come May....its a sideshow in LA at this point....stupid countdown talking **** about Gasol and he's got 12 pts and 4 rebounds....meanwhile idiot Kobe with 5 more turn overs.......what a joke..

Eighth highest paid player in the league, at almost 20 million dollars, and in the last yer of his contract. Gasol is worried about his numbers, because he wants on more deal. He knows he won't get close to his current contract, but he also knows that he can still make big bucks if he can show production this year. It's going to be difficult to move him, especially for guys on one year deals, which I expect is what they'd want.
they both deserve each other. D'Antoni has been a clown of a coach since his Phoenix days and Gasol, yeah, this guy is a more whiny Asik.
I watched the Lakers game last night and Pau looked pretty bad. Kobe is starting to look pretty good. I think he might be able to eventually put up similar production as he use to.
its funny how gasol can feel unhappy anout his job when he makes roughly 107k a day in the nba season. get your check do what the coach says and shut up, how hard is it.
