Don't laugh. It's not out of the realm of possibility.

Don't be surprised if Ish Smith gets waived in the next few days. His contract becomes fully guaranteed if he is not waived before January 8. If Morey is desperate enough for some legit size at the center spot, he could conceivably waive Smith and sign Collins.

I'm not saying he WILL. But it's certainly possible.

(BTW, if Morey is even thinking of waiving Smith, I would hope that he could first try to get something for him. If he could get a future second rounder for Smith rather than waive him, that would be pretty good. But I think I'd like to hold onto Smith instead, though.)

When the hell did everyone forget we were supposed to have a 7'6" all-star center this year? Give the guy a break for planning on Yao actually playing this season.

I doubt he waves Ish, I think they believe he can be a legitimate backup PG, and it allows him to trade AB or KL and not worry so much about it.

More flexibility in the roster in case a star player comes available.

Better question is...is Collins better than JJ. I don't think he'd be a significant improvement.

Bingo - the answer is NO....as bad as JJ is - Collins isn't any better.
