I understand that he's had some bad games this season, but this isnt Patterson. He doesn't look like the same player as last year. Its obvious that its frustrating, but this isnt the "small" big that Morey drafted. He will bounce back at some point or get left behind in the rotation like any other player. If he continues to stink it up then so what. More minutes for Morris, or even Thabeet.
thanks for that reminder. he seems like such a different player from last season. mchale and morey believe in him so i guess that's good enough for me to believe that he'll round into shape soon enough.
Patterson actually has been on the rise..... slowly but gradually.... he is still playing sub par but he is not as turrible as he was in his first 10 games.
The fact that Dalembert is putting good numbers and is allstar worthy in efficiency makes him look bad..... He is having an below average season so far.... it can only get better
I disagree DD.. Last year 2Pat started out playing the way RA told him to play. Later on 2Pat started doing a lot more things at the rim and in the post. The one thing he always seemed to do last year was put a body on his man and shield them off the boards and keep the inside rebounding position and grab the rock. This year so far he is not doing the same stuff on the glass by rebounding the rock. I agree that his post game should be better than what he is showing so far but the lockout was a huge problem for the young guys not being able to work with a rockets coaching staff over the summer ( can you say 2Pat, Thabeet, Cbud, Morris, Parsons, Flynn, Lin and others??) and to top it off he had corrective surgery to fix bone spurs in his foot without Rockets Doctors to advise! The lockout really hurt us plus we have a whole new coaching staff. We are still playing as a team over our heads at times and winning games like tonight that are a huge plus later on. 2Pat just needs to play D and box out on the boards till he is up to speed. I know Morris got hurt a week or so ago at RVG...Bad sprain ankle.. I saw it when watching the D-league future cast... Not sure how he is doing now, but he was putting up 20 + a night and not looking too bad doing it. If his foot is better we may see him called back up and getting minutes not too long from now. zzpot
In the 13 yrs I've roamed this board, this is one of the greatest lines! I agree. If you're going to be smallish, you need to either have long arms, be explosive, or probably both. Milsap is smallish, but he has long arms, es a mean sob on the court, and is explosive. Landry was smallish, but we saw him dog guys on the block. No way they put jefferson on landry. Like I said, he's just a solid guy, nothing special.
I don't even want to convince you that Patterson is good, because that will hurt him. So please keep on calling Patterson soft. Some time later in the year he'll rack up 4+ blocks, about the same time as he gets his hops back too. Dude was 6-7 tonight with his one miss that dunk that he couldn't jump high enough for; he'll be perfectly fine.
