lol, current Patterson is already as good of an overall player as Jamison.

Aim higher people. I'd say his game is a lot like Nene, hopefully he can refine his offensive game to come anywhere close to Nene's level. He doesn't have his size but he plays bigger than he actually is.

Uh, Jamison had a 10 year stretch where he averaged 19+ ppg for 9 of those years, and 8+ rpg for 6 of them. Jamison in his day was a hell of a lot better than Nene.

I'd like to see a bit more consistency on the defensive glass, though the shot blocking has been a bit better than I expected.

I like the Horace Grant comparison, though he may have a bit more offensive upside (I could see him about 15-17 ppg as opposed to 12-14), and a little less ability to slide up to the 5. That's definitely not a bad thing. The biggest question in my mind is how well he will develop on the post. So far, he's been great at knocking down open jumpers and crashing to the rim, but I haven't seen him beat many people on the block or off the dribble.

With the way he's been playing maybe we should consider staring him and bring Scola off the bench for a scoring punch. Patterson's D is solid and he blocks shots in the paint. He works well with the starting unit.

    McDyess...

    Before he blasted his knee....

Like others have said.... He was one of the most explosive power forward to play the game.

I'd rather have Nene than Jamison on my team 10 times out of 10. Great defense vs bad defense. Efficient scorer vs chucker.

    It's not even close.

Hopefully Pat becomes a strong force in the middle like Nene has become.

    Agreed.
Dice was in a different League/rarified air before his injury.

..and West doesn't D up like Pat. He's a scorer.

On Jamison - was more heralded, had more length and not enough heart.....

Millsap doesn't bring the D that Pat does/will IMO.

And Larry Johnson didn't have the consistent J.

I do think Pat will extend his range and believe he has the defensive quickness/toughness/shotblocking ability to go along that says SPECIAL. I would expect the rebounding will always be adequate at worst, probably 10/game at minimum. It isn't a stretch to see him develop into a 22-24 ppg guy.

I'm going with Terry Cummings with some Buck Williams tossed in.

I think we can already say that Patterson has more shot-blocking ability than Jamison. I really, really like this pick. I want to keep Scola as well, though.

Pat Pat is like.... a future Pat Pat. No need to compare.

If he keeps this up it will be tough to get Scola back into the starter roll.

But this is only 1 game.

Good job Pat and great job Morey for finding this diamond in the ruff.

And America Ferrera reminds me of Sofia Vergara <insert sarcastic smiley>
Pat has the body to D up any Power Foward and better shooting than vassili zaitzev. Right now, because he is a rookie and a Rocket, he is not getting the benefit of the doubt from the officials, but I like that he doesn't bite on the pumpfakes. He keeps his straight up, which is rare for a rookie. J-hill has been doing a better of that too.

Jamison does not play a lick of defense. He reminds more of a Horace Grant type or David West with more defense.

He looks more like a defensive minded David West than Antawn Jamison

Its funny how people are bashing my comparison to Jamison because of his poor defense. If you read the comparison post I said that Pat's game is comparable to Jamisons offensive game! Didnt talk about defense at all!!

Comparing Pat to MacDyess is quite a compliment. He is still great, but he was once out of this world, very explosive.
