If you haven't seen Hoop Reality, I suggest you give it a shot. I think Beverley is awesome. A scrappy underdog who knows this is his one chance to make it in the NBA so he's giving it everything he got. I didn't mind the dunk he had in the GSW game cuz I knew he was just giving it 110% and not showboating.
You don't want Harden playing PG as well as trying to create his own shot at the same time. He's got enough pressure as it is. Brooks is definitely here as a 3rd string pg insurance and may even fight for backup sg minutes with Garcia and Andersen.
harden is doing it right now even with two healthy pgs. i disagree on your reason unless mchale reduces his role in this area. i don't see any sign mchale is doing that.
There are very few instances where only Harden plays and neither Beverley nor Lin are playing. Harden CAN do it, but it is just another burden if he is asked to do it for extended periods of time. He is way more efficient playing primarily the role of sg and a sprinkle of pg, not 50/50. Leave the primary playmaking to the true pgs.
i agree on his efficiency. i wish he would focus on sg duty. it would make him better at the end of a game when the ball is in his hand and he still has alot energy. but in reality, he has been doing 50/50 at least if not more. he initiated a lot of our offense more than sprinkle.
Lin and Beverely could turn onto the Rockets version of Mike Bibby and Bobby Jackson. I would be thrilled with that.
This statement is so true. Not overpaying for secondary and tertiary type players part of Morey's genius and is exactly why Houston is in a position to add a top tear free agent to the team this summer of next to an already potent line up.
Our 6th man Patrick will be 6th of the year 2013 for our team. PB's stat last 5 games: FG%58.6 3PT%62.5 FT%83.3 REB3.4 AST3.2 ST1.0 with 9.8PT.
He was mostly a career back up but when Bibby went down in 02 - 03 he played like and NBA MVP. His style was actually a lot like Patrick Beverly's style.
i remember when morey first signed patrick i was the only one making bobby jackson comparisons, and people thought i was off. now everyone want to make them same comparisons now that he's playing good. you guys aren't really diehard basketball fans like that, and switch up to make yourselves look good on the internet. I can dig up proof of this, but you guy's aren't even worth all that.
He's fearless. You saw that from him the first time he stepped on an nba court he knew he belonged and was intent on proving it. I like his game a lot. He can finish in the paint, plays pesky on the ball defense and knows how to run an offense. His jumpshot is not yet consistent. More streaky but not as bad as Lin in that department. If he can improve his jumpshot (which I'm confident he will based on his tenacity ; similar to DMo in this area) I see him as a top 12 pg in 2 years. I think he can be better than Lowry. Which means I see him as our starting PG after we move Lin during the all star break of year 3 of his deal.
Why? Everyone here makes it sound like the Rockets had to go out of their way to "find" Beverley playing in Siberia where only some scout could get to the arena with sled dogs. The Rockets don't deserve any credit for it at all. He was playing in the Eurocup (level below Euroleague) with one of that league's better teams last year and this year. Those games are broadcast in English live across the entire European continent on A MAJOR European television network that is the equivalent of ESPN2 in the United States. All of the games are also broadcast live in English over the internet. And the league also has an English website that broadcasts the games. The Rockets didn't find Beverley. Him and every other player that plays in Euroleague, Eurocup, or Spanish League is just as accessible and just as covered by media and TV as any NBA player is. It's just being done in Europe, and not the US. It would take all of 30 seconds for Morey to watch get a link to watch Beverley's games in Europe. It's really odd that people in the US still think an NBA team has to look for or "find" players in Europe these days, when they are just as accessible on TV and media and internet as NBA players are, or guys that play at big NCAA programs. So the Rockets really don't deserve credit for it.
If clutch brings the search thread function back on i will. I'm not going ten, twenty, thrity pages deep just to prove a point to people i don't even know outside of the internet.
