    People already blaming Lin.

Would everyone cut out this crap?

    1. Losing Beverley is NOT the "end of the season". It certainly sucks big time but if we can't overcome this loss then we are NOT real contenders.

    2. NO ONE should be happy now that Lin gets more minutes. You are not a real fan if you think this way.

It seems like there are some whackos out here who fit number 2.

It also seems like there are probably a few who are now rooting for Lin and the Rockets to fail so they can "win" the stupid Lin-drama-war.

You guys have a rotten and surly attitude. People are asking Lin to be a SERVICEABLE player because ...guess what...he is the backup. Also, they wouldn't have much to worry about if the bar wasn't already so low. Go back to the Knicks forum if you want to parade that BS.

This team will now sink or swim with Lin at PG.

I do like the beard. He will find a way to chuck up shots though - even from the locker room.

How are those stats not accurate?! Those are the final stats from the most recent games we had against teams in the West. Yeah, he could've looked like he was shutting them down but the numbers at the end of the day don't lie my dude.

Forreals! Lin is always the scapegoat. They always find a way.

    To piggy back on this-

If any Rockets rookie comes in the future and complains about being sent to the D-League in the first 3 months of the season the next month or hopefully two needs to be well documented to show this incoming rookie what kind of situation they could be in come March.

The work that Canaan did or didn't (I think he did based on what we saw) put in the first few months will show now (and ultimately as a 2nd rounder with little margin for error in his NBA career) will either pay off or come back to haunt him here in the coming weeks based on what he put into the experience.

We know what Lin can and can't do at this point in his career, but Canaan is the lynch pin in this whole mess that can make this situation a blessing in disguise long term, or a curse. What he did to prepare for this opportunity will soon come to fruition or be a painful reminder of how hard it is to get an opportunity to be an impactful NBA player.

We can only hope for a blessing in disguise and be able to look forward to a bright future at the PG position rather than the opposite. I guess we just have to wait and see.

    (no pressure Isiah)

    This.

The top PG's and offensive systems can NOT be single man guarded no matter *how* good your on ball defense is... this is why Bev gets lit up anyway.

A perfect example is the "loop" play by the Spurs. They've been running this for years, but it still works no matter *who* you put on him.

Why does it work? Because nobody is fast enough to run through TWO screens on a loop around and STILL stop the pass/contest the shot by themselves.

    Here is the Loop...

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/pxCihOz6_UU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Notice how the play action starts not with PG, but a secondary ball handler. Then TP uses the Loop to break free of his man using a double screen and traffic, which he then uses to manufacture a mismatch or distort the defense sufficiently to drop off to a Pick and Pop TD or a cutter who's flashing to the Rim.

This is just ONE play that is impossible to defend man to man. And there's tons of similar plays that the top teams run. This is in addition to speed disadvantages when you're talking forward vs backward movement, differences in reaction time, etc.

At the top levels, it doesn't matter whether it's Beverley or Lin, they'll get theirs if the Help defense, rotations and switches aren't top notch.

Throw in that Curry had 5 fouls in both of those games )one of them he fouled out if i remeber correctly), n yes Curry had to work for every bucket

    Here you go.

Below is the summary of all games he played against west top 9 till the last ROX vs GRZ game.

After that, Rox against other west top 9 :

    Spurs : Lin is good
    Dal : good
    PHO : soso
    GS : bad
    PHO : really bad
    LAC : really bad
    Por : great
    OKC : bad

(you can look it up for the actual numbers if you do not agree with my grading)

And the summary of stats for the season up to the 2 back to back Griz games,

    Lin is shooting 40.6%, 29% on 3 PT, 4.05 AST, 2.59 TO.

Yes, that's against west top 9 (other 8 teams) numbers.

This I don't quite get. The team certainly did not sink or swim with Bev as the PG. He is a role-player who plays his role extremely well - but still a role-player.

man that's a bummer...there's a price to pay when you give 100% effort on defense every minute of the game. Coaches and trainers should have spread minutes more effectively to protect them from this

Lin shut down Parker and Conley earlier this year when he had to play in Beverley's absence. He outplayed Curry last year in a couple of games when the Rockets were 3-1 against GS in the regular season. He also helped win a game against LAC in late March last year with a solid performance against CP3 when Harden was out. He is more than capable of handling himself on both sides of the ball. I think the question is whether McHale will actually try to get Lin going early in the game in order to get the most out of him. I don't know how long Beverley will be out, but if McHale wants to win he has to approach the games as if Lin is the starter and there is no Beverley and look at it from the angle of 'what do I need to do as a coach to put this player in the best position to succeed so that it helps the team win games?'

LOL what?!?! It doesnt count because the someone came to set a screen first?!! That's how most teams play nowadays. How many possession does CP3/Curry etc run iso as oppose to call for a screen?
