i agree on your points, particularly his contract being value, and wouldn't have minded keeping him as a backup to cp3. especially since not having another pg on the team hurt us the first month of the season and killed us in the final 2 games. but like in this video, he just has a much higher perception of his game than reality and refused to play behind cp3. i will reiterate that his main calling card -- his man defense -- is not all that. far too often it mainly consisted of playing needlessly overly aggressive trying to get into the head of the opposing team's point guard, instead of just picking and choosing his spots with intelligent defense such when his man exposed the ball. his method usually resulted in him racking up silly fouls and just riling up the other team more. witness patty mills just shredding him apart in last years playoffs. i'd say that his strongest suit is actually rebounding, which he is very good at for a point guard.
And he'll be saying whichever team he's playing for the best team. That's just Bev. I'm sure when he was with the Rockets and people asked him, he'd say the Rockets were the best team in the world even when we were not that great.
I’d love to see Beverley play with Lebron on Lakers. He’d be fun to watch with Lance, Lebron and Company
"...it's like two Gary Paytons, playing with each other." So if Bev or Bradley are on the court without the other, would it be "Gary Payton, playing with himself?"
It's a mindset all players should have, if u don't believe in your own team who will? Not that it makes much of a difference against a superior talented team, at least you can still put up a fight rather than just give up. Players who believe in themselves (Bev) > Players who wants to be the best but their actions says otherwise (KD)
Where does Lou Williams fall, in the "best players in the NBA" ranking? Does he crack top 40? Top 50? Because he's probably the Clippers best player. And to have a 39-30 record without having a "top ___ player" is pretty remarkable. I don't see them suddenly falling off a cliff and allowing the Kings to come back into contending for the 8th spot, so Clippers should be safe. Should be.
Just a strange career. He always plays like garbage in the playoffs, but right now he is statistically the most clutch player in the NBA. Defensively a liability. He gets you 20 points on 15 shots which is quite good. I think bench role and occasional starter is the right place for him. Carrying a bench is no small task.
