I have 2.5 years of Parsons being a great shooter, I have 9 seasons of Ariza being a terrible shooter, then getting really good in a contract year. If it sticks he will be better than Parsons for this team, I just don't expect it.
We were asking Ariza to do something completely different last time. It's like saying there is no way you can teach elementary school because you failed at teaching college.
15 mil a year for a role player. Are you effing serious? This offseason hasnt been sexy but Ariza is a veteran with championship experience who signed a fair market value and understands his role. Keeping Parsons prevents Houston from having flexibility to add more depth around the two stars.
Now that I'm calm, I actually don't mind having Ariza. Who has more potential? Parsons. But, Ariza is the guy who we need now. At the end of the day, losing Lin is actually the biggest loss of the team. Our bench is putrid now. At least when we had Lin, our bench had a 50% chance of being decent. I hope Morey can fix our bench.
He was a first option then and was forced to create his own shots. He'll be a lot better as a spot up jump shooter.
To be fair. The first time he was here it was a different system. This system actually fits his style of being open for the corner three with Howard and harden doing the work and drawing the D in. The first time around he was expected to be a top threat on this team. For what we need I think it will be a wash.
From spurts we saw last year, I would wager he can. I'm assuming the Mavs saw that as well hence that gigantic contract.
But that didn't really answer my question. Are you positive? you don't know so your really not helping the positivity of this thread. I think you should join one of the other one million Chandler Parsons threads and complain about Ariza there, lol. It's really getting pathetic.
you keep forgetting WHY Ariza was so bad. Or you remember why he was bad but you are leaving it out to fit your argument that CP is FAR better. His first stint in Houston, Ariza was asked to be a first option even though he clearly wasnt a first option. He isn't the first option anymore...
If Morey would stop with the free agent chasing, we could sign Lance Stephenson as a crucial sixth man and have a ****ing monster off the bench. But knowing Morey he's serious about signing crap free agents and whiffing on a star next offseason. Dear god if he's so ****ing scared of cap space then sign Lance on a two year deal with a team option on the second. NOBODY ELSE IS COURTING HIM. We have a straight run at possibly the steal of the free agency period and we are just letting him sit there and resign with his old team. MOREY DAMN YOU!!!!
No chance in hell 2009 ORL would have made it to the Finals if you replace Hedo with Chandler. Not even close.
Doubt Stephenson would sign on to be a 6th man when he can start elsewhere, but he'd quickly help me forget about Parsons. He'd be awesome to have here.
Lol. I'll take anyone. I watched our Summer League game --- our future bench guys are not ready, not even DMo. Some great potential there, but they are not ready for a championship run. I'll take anyone decent for our bench right now --- ANYONE! We are going to kill our starters again! The last thing that we want is what happened to Yao happening again to Dwight and James.
Why the **** are you bringing up several years ago? You need to compare Ariza's and Parson's years last year- enough with this past bull****-
The Mavs saw an opportunity to stick it to the Rockets and took the chance. If they honestly think Parsons is a $15MM player they have some serious evaluation problems. If Chandler really was an all star caliber player the Rockets likely would have beat the Blazers. The more likely truth is that he is a Batum level player which is worth about $10-12MM.
