Padgett played for the rockets for two years in the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons. “I have agreed to a one year non guaranteed contract. It’s a tough situation -- I know that. But, I think there’re some things I can bring to the table that can help the rockets. I know the system. I know the coach very well. I am coming in great shape. And I am going to try to win a spot on the team.” Padgett was selected in the 28th pick in the first round by the Utah Jazz in the 1999 NBA Draft out of the University of Kentucky. The 6'9", 240lb small forward played with the Jazz for four seasons before signing with the Rockets in 2003, where he had mainly been utilized as a backup. In 2005, Padgett signed with the New Jersey Nets. On June 30, 2006, he was waived by the New Jersey Nets. He recorded a career-high 22 points and six 3-point field goals vs. Sacramento in January 2005.
With novak on board....I really didnt see a useage for Pagget. With that said, I love the guy, and I hope he makes the team
sheesh. we need another shot blocker. i really like scotty the body but there isn't anything he can add to the team that we don't already have from novak, hayes, and jho.
I think he is hoping that someone will get confused on the last day of training camp, and accidentally waive Steve Novak instead.
C Yao, Deke PF Battier, Howard, Hayes SF Mcgrady, Novak SG Wells, Snyder, Head PG Alston, Span, Lucas Total: 13 Rest: Jacobsen, Bowen, Sura, Azubiuke, Padgett IMO, with Battier on board, Bowen should be cut. Battier is now the hustle/energy player with talent. Those final two spots should come down to Sura, Padgett, and one of Jacobsen/Azubiuke (whoever has a better camp). Then it comes down to Sura's injury status and whether they feel he's worth a spot, or if he should just retire. All I know is that if Bowen makes this team over Padgett I might puke.
No, it should be: PG: Rafer Alston | Vassili Spanoulis | John Lucas III SG: Bonzi Wells | Kirk Snyder | Luther Head SF: Tracy McGrady | Rudy Gay | Steve Novak PF: Juwan Howard | Chuck Hayes | Scott Padgett CN: Yao Ming | Stromile Swift | Dikembe Mutombo
2 years ago, Scott P had one of the highest plus-mins on the team. He is a marginal player but one who appears to fit. Juwan is a better player but one who did not fit.
I'd have to imagine that Bowen will be cut for sure at this point. He gives us absolutely nothing that Battier doesn't do a hundred times better. As for Padge, I'm guessing that he's fighting Jacobson and Azubukie for the last spot, or last two spots if Sura gets bought out. Personally I think Padge will make the team. Nobody played the pick and pop with Mcgrady as well as he did.
wow, i surely didn't see this one coming either? well, i don't think anybody gave him a chance either and jvg really likes him. gonna be a crowded training camp! thats a good thing though
This is funny considering everyone has been comparing Novak to Padgett. I guess Van Gundy was serious when he said letting Scott go was a mistake. Now he's got 2 of 'em. Well, we know what Padgett gives us... it's still unknown what Novak can bring.
