I'm sure someone must have mentioned it, but Altuve is insanely underpaid... His contract is terrible considering his production.
Both sides took a calculated risk. Essentially the Astros bought out his arbitration years. It has worked out great for the Astros thus far. Altuve will get paid well (barring injury) beginning in 2020 or sooner.

Altuve is really good at padding his stats when none on base. He's a specialist at hitting into DPs and LOBs.
So he's overpaid because of the numbers he put up for those 2 teams? Last I checked, his performance for the Astros, the team paying him, is what determines if he is overpaid or underpaid. You haven't made a statistical based argument yet for your statement that Reddick is overpaid.
Altuve's 3 year splits (2014 - 2016) with runner's on: .334/.390/.489/.879 This season: .298/.375/.476/.851 So, yeah, he sucks with runners on throughout his career.
