Our record without Dwight is actually better this season

Same old narrative from Dwight apologists. Dwight's has a below average post up game. How do you expect us to utilize him when he constantly bricks or turns it over in the paint? All he's good for is lobs or put back dunks, since he also suck on pnr.

As I said 1000th times, if Dwight should get more touches, so does DeAndre, since he's the one leading the FG% this season. Let DeAndre take 30 shots a game. That makes sense. Having ability to create your own shot and the types of shots you take do matter in terms of getting possessions.

    For the last two seasons

    With Dwight : 57-45 (.558)

    Without Dwight : 34-18 (.653)

There has been enough sample size to draw the conclusion : Dwight is bringing everyone else down on this team. He's the cancer. He's the problem.

As others have said... the quality of competition for the games Dwight missed was pretty poor... Dallas, Miami, Denver, Milwaukee, Sacramento, Knicks, Pelicans, Jazz, etc.

But I think we can sense from both last year and this year that the team is at least AS GOOD without Dwight as they are with him. Meaning, he doesn't really have much of an impact.

I'd rather have his $20+ million dollar salary back to add other players than pay him that much. Then the team could really improve.

You also gotta keep in mind that when they were sitting him out for the back-to-backs they would have him play in the more difficult game and have him sit out for the easier game that the team could win without him.

The funny thing is we lost to almost all of those teams you mentioned when Dwight was on the court this season.

Dwight is the cancer and problem of this team. Let's just admit it to ourselves and move on.

Dwight's last yer RPM was 18th among all centers, and had negative ORPM. RPM is adjusted for the level of competition, so even then we know Dwight was just as mediocre.

May be... but on the other hand, before Dwight was on the team they had 45 wins and were fairly uncompetitive in the playoffs with the Thunder.

Then they get Dwight and they win 54 games (9 game improvement) and played a very competitive series with the Blazers (who were a really good team at that time). Then they won 56 games last year and went to the WCF.

This year is a stinker, but this is a crazy anomaly of a year.

Ever since Dwight got here, the team has certainly been trending significantly upward. How much of that is due to Dwight? I'm not sure.

Do the Rockets get to the WCF last season without Dwight? Probably not. So it really is a difficult question and I'm not sure I know the answer.

In terms of Win Shares, Dwight's contribution has been not that impressive. Again, last year success has a lot to do Harden stepping up, and Dwight was out half the season. The moment he got back semi-healthy and played more games than not, we stink. I don't think this is a coincidence.

They improved from 45 wins to 54 wins the year before that. Did Dwight not have a hand in that?

That's Dwight 3 years ago, when he was still in last stage of his prime. That Dwight is long gone my friend.

Dwight is a noticeable drag on offense. He can't create a shot, space the floor, or pass very well. Last night in the 4th, he tried to get off a hook shot over a triple team and got swatted by Booker, instead of passing to an open shooter. That's a microcosm of his offensive game, he's either going to take a low percentage hook shot or turn it over off the dribble. He can still finish strong, but that depends on his commitment to set good screens and move without the ball, which he doesn't always seem to be interested in.

Factor in his declining defense and effort and there's no doubt that his salary could be better spent elsewhere. I appreciate his time here, but you'd have to be crazy to think he'll be more effective in the next few years. He's 30. The fundamentals will never be there at this point.

Thank you. An honest opinion on Dwight is certainly a rarity on this forum, but needed to be said.

OP is right. Dwight is complete trash. He has no impact on games offensively because he's an awful passer, high TO prone, doesn't set good picks & refuses to pnr. Hell, it could be argued he negatively impacts the team since he clogs the lane.

His true impact was on the defensive side of the floor but that hasn't been the case all year.

Even Kobe knows the deal. He's a cancer.

There's a big difference between a sober and realistic analysis of a player's strengths, weaknesses, and limitations on the one hand, versus a constant litany/barrage of ad hominem attacks on a player on the other. We all appreciate the former . . . the latter, not so much.
