What is with all the hysteria? OMG, if we can't beat Spurs, Clippers, or Thunder we don't even deserve to go into round 2. I do think we will play the Spurs. I said last month I predict them to move ahead of the Thunder and Clippers at the end and still believe that will happen. They will beat Cleveland and Dallas and end up 48-34. LAC will lose to GSW and UTA and end up 47-35, and OKC will beat MIN and lose to us and MIL and end up 47-35 too. Even if OKC does manage to beat us or MIL the Spurs own the tiebreaker over them and will still take 6th seed. Now LAC and OKC split head to heads, and will end up tied in Conference as well at 27-25. So, I have no idea which ends up in 7th seed. All I know is I don't see us playing either. Even if the Clippers beat Utah or GSW and end up tied with the Spurs the Spurs will have a better conference record and come out in 6th.
i've been welcoming a 1st round matchup w/ the sperms for a few reasons.. 1) easiest travel schedule 2) pop's defensive sets will be a good tune-up for us in later rounds 3) getting out to their excellent 3pt shooters will be a good tune-up for our defense in later rounds 4) their players are soft and it will be fun to beat up on them 5) we still owe them one from a couple years ago 6) make sean elliott cry like the b**** he is
we can't get below 4th now, but even there i'm not sure i want UTA they've been regularly blowing teams out by 30, things could get testy with them going back to last season and i'd be concerned about wear&tear again, altitude and long travel itinerary for our guys, and i prefer not playing a team whose best player is the point guard which means CP3 has to exert himself more so than against LAC/DEN/SAS for instance
Would also be nice for MDA to finally take Pop down in a series. Was initially hoping for a Utah matchup but they are in really good form while Spurs seem to have come down from their hot streak. Spurs would be an excellent matchup for us.
In a 3-way tie of LAC, OKC and Spurs (each 48 wins), think Spurs will be #6, Clippers #7 and OKC #8 Need spurs to win their last 2 games to get off the bottom
This is factual. If this happens which may very well happen hopefully we get the 2 seed. This would be the perfect scenario for us.
The Rockets are now 19-3 in their last 22..... two of the loses were by 1point in overtime and then by 2 points. The Warriors are 14-8 in their last 22... the Bucks are 16-6. A twenty two game stretch is somewhat arbitrary, but it is an idea of how the top teams have been playing recently. Those mindless loses to teams like NJ, blowing a big lead likely will cost Harden the MVP and the Rockets the #1-2 seed.
Look at our 6th, 7th and 8th teams and compare them to the east 6th, 7th and 8th teams. And some people actually say the east is a lot more competitive this season? Give me those east teams any day of the week.
Getting the 2 or 3 seed is important. 2 seed better than 3 obviously. But why would we care about who we face in the 1st round. The only team that should be a challenge is GS
This is very possible. Denver isn’t nearly as good on the road and those are two of the toughest places to play.
