i'm not trying to pick on you...but i can't imagine how you can think that. did you live here when Bud was here? he ran the most low-rate pro sports organization. he built ZERO political capital for himself or his team after roughly 40 years here. he and McLane are nowhere near each other. nowhere even close.
I think he's referring to Landry's as a company. And I'm going to be taking advantage of their good deals come April.
Fertita could not afford to buy the Astros by himself. He would have to get investors. He is known for living way beyond his money. He lives off of the Landry's corp. money and call it his own. That huge boat he has? Landry's corp. owns it, he uses it. He couldn't afford it. The helicopters? Landry's corp owns it, he uses it for personal use. Landry's has aweful financials, they never know how much money they will make until the year after. Fertita is a great salesman, but lousy at running a business. They accidently make money most of the time and they don't always make all that much. He is not near as rich as a lot of the Houstonians he hangs out with and associates with. He uses corporate money as his own in a lot of grey area stuff. You do NOT want him owning the Astros, or running it or whatever. He'd probably ruin it financially while the whole time they would look good doing it.
You know? You stated it perfectly. McLane knows how to play the game. He is much like a politician. We both (or 3 or 4) know where this is leading. I will bow out at this point. No need to go in circles.
Yup. I've been saying the same for as long as his name has been mentioned as a possible owner. No idea why he's viewed as some sort of white knight and savior of the franchise. And if you think MMP is gimmicky now, with the train & whatnot...
