I guess so... Pedro pulled out because he hurt himself when he slipped in his bathroom while putting on a shirt.
...and now to answer my own question http://houston.astros.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20060707&content_id=1544525&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou HOUSTON -- Roy Oswalt is going to the All-Star Game after all. Oswalt was named to the National League squad Friday afternoon and replaces Mets right-hander Pedro Martinez, who was placed on the disabled list on Thursday and will not play in the game. It will be Oswalt's second All-Star appearance. This will be Oswalt's second All-Star appearance. He hurled one inning in last season's game at Detroit's Comerica Park after the fans made him a Final Vote winner. Oswalt, 28, is only 6-5 this season, but his 3.10 ERA ranks sixth in the NL. Over his last two outings, he's pitched a combined 17 innings in a pair of complete games. Unfortunately, both of those starts resulted in losses and made Oswalt the first pitcher in nearly four seasons to lose consecutive complete-game starts. An All-Star Game is, at least, some consolation for those tough-luck losses. Oswalt joins Astros right fielder Lance Berkman on manager Phil Garner's club, which will be supported by coaches Mark Bailey, Cecil Cooper, Jose Cruz, Gary Gaetti, Jim Hickey and Doug Mansolino.
That's awesome, now we got 2 astros stars, I think we will win this time, too bad Biggio wasnt in it.
lol...you just put alot of words in his mouth. all he said was he wished biggio was on the team, kid.
yeah no kidding, this is a fan allstar game, for the fans afterall... this ain't no pro-bowl where the best of the best get to go.
exactly. that's why you have possibly the best pitcher in baseball (Liriano) sitting at home come the 11th.
Except the all-star game now takes on so much importance with the winner gaining their league's representative home field advantage in the World Series. Since that is now the case (and I'm not arguing whether or not that is a good idea...I actually like it), I think the fans should only pick the one player at the end instead of the starting lineup. The majority all-star teams should now be determined by manager and player votes, IMO. As far as home field advantage goes for the World Series, why don't they award it to the league that has the best record in inter-league play?
It would be great if NL fans all organized to vote in all the KC Royals as starters in the all-star game for the AL.
