    How so?

You think the computer invented itself?

A culture that prioritized science and education brought that about.

I just don't like the attitude of not understanding another person's position. Singing, "we are better than you" is not a way of "trying to get better". Its immature and ignorant to history.

What brought about a culture that prioritized science and education?

    Technology...

Technology didn't decide that for us, we did.

Unless you're saying some kind of mind control device has been running the world since the dawn of time.

Singing "everybody is the same" is immature and ignorant of history.

Singing "X is better than Y" is pointing out facts so that we might improve ourselves as a whole, that way we don't end up like those ruined societies.

You think that there is culture without writing, the wheel, tools and weapons?

Technology decided for us then, and it decides for us now, I think.

    Cultureless humans?

Got to love the Chicken and the egg debate in whatever format it happens to occupy.

Cultureless? There is no such thing. 0 is still a number, etc.

    This isn't a chicken-egg argument.

Somewhere, somebody decided it was a good idea to invent something.

Technology doesn't drive itself, people are the main ingredient.

I can't believe this is even a discussion.

No...can you read? Where did I write that? You're the dude bringing up cartoons to soothe the injured christian soldier soul.

YOu mean the assertion that I didn't make?

Look, you're the idiot claiming this right wing christian anti muslim religious massacre is qualitatively different from an islamic religious massacre.

I obviously disagree, and appeal to basic sanity insofar as it's not

You claim it is....You got to 'splain it if you gonna claim it.

Yeah there's lots of Norwegians who would disagree, do we have to do some sort of "great cartoon massacre"/oslo attacks comparative body count here in order to gain pity perspective? WHy don't you do the honors since I'm not as acquainted with this cartoon stuff as you...thx.

Really? Thank god . . . Donald since you're the the most a- of the atheists here, not that there's anythign wrong with that, and, ergo, a neutral arbiter, why don't you just tell me when I can call nutty extremist political/religious right wing violence problematic......and when I have to just say "well muslims are worse, so it's ok to say **** all muslims in response to an attack not perpertrated by muslims and OK then!"

    1) Moestavern posted a photoshop/comic of Jesus.

    2) gwayneco replied saying that the difference Islam/Middle East and Christianity/West is that you can draw a cartoon of Jesus without fear of violence/retribution while doing the same for Mohammed would not work out so well (which is true, as we've seen).

    3) You replied stating that this was true "Unless you live in Norway or OKC", thus implying that if someone drew a Jesus cartoon in those places they would be threatened/killed.

Did you not know what you wrote/replied to?

I shouldn't have to explain this to you.

What did you think you were saying/responding to?

This is silly because DonnyMost is talking about a sub-culture, while the rest of you are talking about culture.

This sub-culture he is referring to is part of some culture.

For example, if Islam is a culture (which I completely reject), they invented:

    - Torpedoes
    - Rockets
    - Metal Armour
    - Windmills

Does that make them part of the Islamic culture? Arab culture? or the "culture" that DonnyMost is referring to?

The answer is all or none.

People who are too wrapped up in culture are worshipping the past. You learn from the past, and you build on it if you can, then you put it away. It's cool if you're being nostalgic, but stubbornly holding onto culture like some cultures do really gets on my nerves.
