If other stars are being criticized for doing the same thing, so should he. It's widely reported that he wants to leave primarily b/c he wants a bigger limelight.

I'm curious to what he would have done differently in terms of coaching and personnel decisions. They shot themselves in the foot with the Rashard Lewis signing. I can't think of too many others off the top of my head.

They have built crap around him for years...They expect him to stay based on the thought he was drafted there?... Like he owes Orlando a favor?... The whole we gave you a chance argument is bs... Dwight would have been drafted no.1 by every team that year... And wouldnt have dropped lower than no.2 if Orlando had taken Okafor...He owes them nothing IMO

    Bull****!

The Orlando GM is incompetent as hell, even moreso than the Cleveland Owner.

They crippled that franchise by giving Rashard that max contract.

Why would Dwight stay in Orlando when they have literally no assets to trade for talent?

And getting a injured has been Arenas doesn't count as upgrading the roster.

Trading Lewis for him was a lateral move at best.

Life happened. People don't stay teenagers forever. They grow, mature, become exposed to the realities of the world. Plus, the Magic management have been floundering for years with no clear plan except to try to catch lightning in a bottle while DH12 is there.

The Magic have been his college experience. He's now in the post-PhD program for basketball. Very few driven, accomplished people want to stay in the same place for their entire advanced education. He probably feels like he's treading water personally and professionally and wants to change.

That's one of the huge risks of drafting teenagers with no college experience.

As long as he doesn't hold an hour-long special, I have no problem with him doing what he's doing.

I'd be pissed too. Miami is a super team. NY is becoming a super team. He's gotta pair up with a superstar to taste the finals again. I just hope he stays East.

Whatever, at least they made the finals, Rashard Lewis is what held them back

Face it Orlando, you're a town that superstars outgrow in 4-5 years.

Doesn't matter what you spend, you're a vacation spot, not a major market. Do you even have a downtown?

They're saying whatever they want, but the truth is, Orlando's a nice area to have an offseason home in, but that's it.

Oh, and that insane contract you gave to Rashard Lewis? Take a 5th of that, invest in your scouting and front office. Take a cue from OKC and SA. Don't try and be the Knicks just because so many of their fans retire nearby.

Sadly, the NBA is a business, and in business these days, none of this matters.

RT @MagicInsider: Possibly stunning development: Dwight Howard softens stance. "This is place I want to be but some things have to change"

    WindhorstESPN Brian Windhorst
After meeting with team, Dwight Howard seemed to re-open door to staying with Magic if there are "changes." Story coming.

Dwight staying = bad for Houston's Nene chase.

Anyhow: What happened is that Dwight's been in the league for 7 years and knows he can't wait forever for the chance at a ring. Orlando's management has spent the past few years spinning their wheels and loading the team up with bad contracts on guys who wouldn't win 30 games together without Dwight, leaving the team little flexibility with which to improve.

If he does something stupid like copy cat the decision when he becomes a FA, would he be hated more than LerBon?
