Speaking of which, Chandler actually has become very good at the pick-and-roll, which wasn't part of his arsenal at the beginning of his career. I don't know if Asik would be able to develop that part of the game as Chandler has.
Wow, we're so big man deprived that we have posters complaining about a big man throwing it down too hard. Sorry he's not Yao and he actually gets off the ground.. Just fyi, every big center brings his legs up so they can slam the ball harder... Dwight Tyson DeAndre McGee And Bynum all lift their legs to throw it down harder, to keep other players from contesting the rim... Such a joke of a thread...
Actually Omer lifts his legs AFTER he's on the rim. I get what the op is talking about. I think it's more of a tick than Omer trying to show off. Also a good way to clear traffic so you don't wind up spraining an ankle on someone's foot.
Wrong. I just watched this video where Bynum dunked at least 5 times, and only one of those was a dunk where he lifted his legs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjpjUxnxBQk DeAndre Jordan's top 10 dunks, and only 1 time does he hang on the rim, and even then he doesn't lift his legs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D89nEb19ktg I'm not saying nobody does it, but nobody does it nearly as much as Asik does. I'm certainly fine with the explanation for why he does it, but let's face it, he's a bit of an anomaly when it comes to this from what I can tell, at least as far as the frequency at which he does it.
Lets just be happy when he scores. It wont be happening very much and when it does happen I'm sure we are going to need it.
nvm its showing up now, idk why but sometimes pic's dont show up on my computer for 15 mins after i post it.
Definitely a tick. Also a coordination thing in my opinion. The guy isn't Amare out there. I think part of him making sure he lands correctly and not too stiff or awkwardly is the leg raise.
I personally love how Asik dunks. I hate the 7 footers who refuse to dunk inside the paint when they can. Then they end up missing an easy tip in or layup. Youre 7 foot, just dunk the damn ball! And thats exactly what he does.
