doesn't matter where he was traded to. we only play them 4 times a year anyways and they gave us the best offer. If this leads to acquiring a 3rd star/helping us add a player at a position of need (PG/PF) than it would have been worth it. Anyways, peace out Big O! I wish the twin towers thing would have worked... that would have been one of the best defensive front courts in the league for a long time! Good luck in NO.
Without Omer in a rockets Jersey there is likely no Dwight. Omer was easily the 2nd best rocket pre Dwight's arrival and the rockets were able to make a name for themselves by making the playoffs in a stacked west. It seems very unlikely that without Omer we would have been better than a .500 team and I doubt Dwight would have put the rockets on his short list. So for that Omer, I salute you, and will enjoy seeing how Morey spends the first round pick you landed us!
Thanks Omer. You were a true team player. Set great picks, played unselfishly. I know you could easily have chucked up mid-range shots at an equal or higher accuracy (and possibly helped get you more minutes in the rotation) than guys like T Jones but were just too unselfish. And you always tried your best in playing smart, help defense, and never went for the numbers, just the win. With you gone, the Rockets are losing a major, major piece to their recent success. Best of luck in the future.
I hope you start in New Orleans, big fella! You deserve it. Thank you for all the rebounds, sweat, and defense. Thank you for carrying this team to the playoffs two seasons ago. Good luck to you in the future! Except when you play Houston.
My favorite memory is when he hit some key free throws against OKC when they went Hack-a-Asik in the playoffs!
Thank you Omer. You were one of my favorite players your first season - I didn't appreciate how you handled the situation at the beginning of last season, but I could understand it. All the best in the future, you earned it. And thanks for the capspace (and that we only had to pay for about 12 million of your 25 million contract...)
I've always appreciated his passion and tough-nosed play. Didn't appreciate the pouting last year. Too bad. He could have finished as an all-time fan favorite (certainly had my vote). Now I imagine most Houstonians feel no love loss with him leaving. Good riddance. Team comes first.
Despite his stone hands, I am truly going to miss Omer! We finally got a legit double double center with true D and strong picks after having to fill in with Hayes, Camby, Dally etc. Miss you big O. Love the fact that you just went out there and got stuff done, took care of business and went home. No off the court drama or unnecessary headlines. Consummate professional despite a bit of pouting.
