Apparently before the current Metro system there used to be a streetcar trolley system. I wonder why they took it out, it looked like loads of fun

Only known photo of the Texas City Disaster (second explosion) -- the equivalent of a 1 kiloton tactical nuke detonation.

Some of us actually remember the nightmare that was the construction of the Pierce Elevated. To this day, even after being rebuilt, probably more that once, you bounce when driving on the damn thing. I've always wondered who got that contract, and who got paid off, because that was a lousy contruction job.

Oh -- you've never heard of Miss Pavlichenko? Firstly, it is a great Woody Guthrie Song:

And secondly, it is just a cool story:

Yep, the Texas model is right next to the model from the country of Pennsylvania who is next to the model from the country of Illinois who is next to that awesome country of Nevada's model. Above her are the models from the countries of Tennessee and Kentucky. Top right is the model from that weird country of Montana. I think Dick Cheney was their president?
In case anyone couldn't find the middle.

I think the confusion is that these sashes are not the name of the place they are from, but they are rather elaborate name tags that an eccentric millionaire made the women in his harem wear.
