Dirk , did not ever face the defense that Dream did. he did not have to battle double and triple teams day in and day out to earn his 27k points.

So are we really getting worked up about what Cuban and his Dallas rag think about all time great basketball players? Really?

Let that sink in for a moment.

I really feel that Cuban is trying to antagonize the Rockets organization and fans especially now that both teams are at the same level of talent. I think he is savvy enough to know that rivalries sell tickets and get you on national TV so he’s trying to intensify what little resentment exists between the two teams.

Cuban ruined his own argument when he pointed out Dream played in an era of dominant bigs. And yet Dream was still able to stand out as possibly the best among them.

Cuban's miserable trying to cover up his bias. He just couldn't. While both were good at offensive end, Olajuwon's defense was SO much better than Dirk's. Not even close.

The only way there is even a discussion is if you ignore defense.

    Interesting trivia...

The world's best basketball is in Texas.

Greatest all-time from Africa: Hakeem Olajuwon, Houston Rockets
Greatest all-time from Asia: Yao Ming, Houston Rockets
Greatest all-time from Europe: Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks
Greatest all-time from South America: Manu Ginobili, San Antonio Spurs

And if we'd have swung that trade...

Greatest all-time from North America: Michael Jordan, "Houston Rockets"

    And though not a continent...

Greatest all-time from the Caribbean: Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs

    Pretty crazy.

Our hand has been forced. We must nuke Dallas from orbit.

ONLY way Nowitski arguably passes Hakeem is if he wins another ring and somehow pulls a couple of MVP-calibur seasons out of his ass - and that's not happening.

I think I can accurately predict that no player will ever go to Dirk (or Duncan) for special training sessions.

Think Dream couldn't shoot the three if he wanted to?

Dream played like a seven footer was meant to and as I've started before, Dream was doing back-footed fadeaways when Dirk was eating sauerkraut in his mama's kitchen.

Dirk and his seven rebounds a game can stick it.

Sorry but Hakeem doesn't get enough respect for his game and it bugs the living crap out of me.

Comparing a (far) below average defender to one of the greatest defenders to play ANY sport tells you all you need to know here.

We really want our 7 footer to play in the perimeter.

    Said no one ever.

Even if we did, the only thing that Dirk did better was the 3 pt shot. Dream had an assortment of moves and basically, pick your poison. You can layoff him fro mid range and he will bury the jumper or he can take you off the dribble. On the low block, he can do the dream shake and use either the hook or the fadeaway on the baseline. He can also power it in.

He commanded at least a double team where he can kick out to a shooter and he is always a threat in offensive rebounding.
